I had 3 shoulder armors from act one elves you find in the woods near the waterfall +5 sign damage each... ontop of +sign damage weapon with +sign damage moon+sign damage armor.

With all damage vigor and Magic and intenisty from the magic tree...

I just igni'ed him to death.
The biggest problem was having to wait for him to recover so the next Igni didnt miss him.

BTW... a Certain Eternal Battle boss in chapter2 is impossible with ure Magic Char that doesnt have dodge.

ON the upside... if when you are fighting the Mini boss before him.... and lay down magic trap.... as soon as he appears he is stunned and just stands there doing nothing at all letting you kill him without a fight.
What do you mean by 'doesnt heave dodge' ?
If you go pure magic and dont put any points into better dodge you cant dodge this bosses attacks or charge... and he charges you knocks you down.. then sweep attacks you... they take down your shield then 2/3 your health.

Even thou you get up and attempt to roll away before he makes his sweep attack.

End result is you cannot go near him at all.. and need to use magic to kill him.. which leaves the problem with the fact he has 3 times as much health agasint magic.. then agasint melee... would really like to know why infact since magic does less damage overall(except for overpowered trap sign+damage) then weapons

That is your problem only.
I didnt put any in dodging before chapter 3
still i lived through the battle by quen (4 vigors) and laying snares (did not lay before the battle, just run around with him a little through the whole battle field)

People just fail realize that mere snares are very damaging. ( it deals dmg directly to the body not the shield)
what difficulty were you playing on(I was hard)

and would you mind making a youtube video to show it.
As soon as the cutscene ends, hit Aard. 3 fast (left click) swings. Aard. 3 swings. Repeat until out of vigor and run out of range to regen. This works on any enemy that's vulnerable to Aard and doesn't have a shield (including the Draug) regardless of build or difficulty level. It may not be the fastest way to kill something, but it is just about foolproof.
Laying out snares is sooooooooo cheap. Yet effective.
intresting that he isnt ummune to arrd when he is immune effectively to all other sign effects(including stun trap if its not directly out of the cut sceene)
Finally had this fight Monday, and I find both hard and very easy...

Hard way:

First I tried to kill him with the sword/quen.... and got exterminated 20 times in a row (But I didn't put any talent except the first six).

Very easy way:

Then I tried instead to uses bombs, 15 or so grapeshots, and the fight suddenly became very easy, just dodge his attack waiting for his quen to expire, then spam him with bomb... and he is dead. (well not dead but I won the fight anyway)

Retried with daggers instead of bomb and same result and I only have level one dagger trowing talent.

EDIT: I am playing in hard.

I always play on hard. Feel like cheating (kinda like stealing candy from a kid) on normal
Youtube...would take lots of my time but well maybe i will try later

Phew...fighting in someone else body was tough
Btw, you will have to take my word about not having dodge skill and on hard mdoe cuz i forgot >_> OH well just judge by distance and how dmg the boss hits are

Here is the boss battle

Wow, that's pretty awesome equipment. I (still) haven't seen upgrades like that.

Cleric: Ok the combat was fine up until this point but now i think it's just getting a bit ridiculous.

He uses the same signs as you but his are significantly better, I mean when you attack him you get stunned, but the opposite doesnt happen when he does you.

He also just spins circles and you take 3/4 of your health in damage just for being anywhere near him, when clearly his sword misses you, but you still take damage.

It's such a shame, Witcher 1 released with so many bugs, this is such an amazing game it's truly a shame to see little glitches and unpolished aspects like this that make the gameplay brutal.
This was honestly one of my favorite fights. After fighting the Kayram I was worried that boss fights in the W2 were going to be annoying and poorly designed. Yet after battling Letho, I regained my faith.

I actually felt that if executed properly, I could defeat him purely on skill (unlike previous Kayram battle).

Yes, I died like 40 times, but I eventually figured it out where I beat him with full health. I feel I could do it again if given the chance.

During my setup, I had two points in Quen extending its duration. I also had a few points in Aard. What you want to do is open with Aard, recharge, Quen and attack. When Letho has his shield up ignore him and run around. He will throw bombs at you, but after a while you figure out how to avoid them by rolling.

Be sure to keep Quen up and rinse and repeat this formula and you can beat him untouched.

Hope that helps!
I did this on normal. I ran in circles till his Quen sign wore off and hit him with an Ard. This pushed him back to a wall and i left button smashed till he was dead. the fast attacks prevented him from blocking or casting any signs. Took a long time to kill him with the fast attacks but they interrupted everything he tried to do.

I would like to add that I think the running in circles for any game is kinda lame. it reminds me of the school yard and playing ring around the posie or something like it. I mean you have to admit its lame and stupid looking.
