What do you mean by "bugged out"?

Just curious. If it's not registering clicks or something, then you can upload the save and let someone get past that part for you. If it's crashing or going to a black screen with sound because of a corrupted save, then there aren't many options available at the moment (though I have hope that number 33 in the patch 1.3 changelog means that those black screen problems will be fixed with the next patch).

I do not know if this is your problem, but a common issue related to not getting past the Kayran is the Quick Time Event sequence not registering mouse clicks properly. Temporarily decreasing the monitor resolution size to let’s say a lower number like 800 x 600 seems to allow some players to get past the Kayran.

Also, to any moderator who is reading, why is this solution not part of the “common issues and possible solutions” faq? I know that this same complaint keeps getting brought up and the save game workaround seems to be a more common a solution than decreasing the monitor resolution. I know decreasing the monitor resolution does not work for everyone, but a big part of this game is choice and consequence and using another person’s save game changes some of these early choices for the player.

Well, the GOG dude has been MIA for about a month and a half now...

I messaged him about it more than a month ago and still nothing. I've seen him online since I sent him that solution, so I really do think that GOG staff got tired of troubleshooting and just washed their hands of the whole thing. This got me thinking--what about people who can't get past the Kayran and want to do multiple playthroughs, but don't want to continually have to upload their saves?

So I started a game and killed the Kayran as soon as I got to Flotsam without spending any skill points. Figure I'll do it twice (or does the way you save Luisa matter, making it three necessary saves?) without leveling up. That way people can choose the beginning they want, allocate those skill points, and not have to upload their savegame every time they get to the Kayran, all without losing the ability to customize their character.
