I've tried to best the Kayran quite a few times now, the best I've done was this morning where I lopped off two of it's tentacles. I was stupid and didn't prepare the Mongoose potion for poison protection but I still think I can do it on Easy. It seems like Easy is Hard in this game, atleast for this Monster. I need a strategy because each time I throw down a Yrden (sp?) trap it seems like it's dumb luck if it traps the tentacle or not. That's what killed me in the last try, that and the poison. Running around aimlessly trying to avoid tentacles while slapping down Yrden (sp?) seems time consuming and difficult enough but it's bloody frustrating when sometimes they don't even attract the monsters blows! I need help. Please. I love the game so far besides this.
You can not trap the middle tentacles. Which, I assume, is the root cause of your issues. See the glowy orange bulbs? Now, let the lightbulb in your head turn on as to which tentacles you should be trying to trap. ;p

Thankyou for that hint. I'm still getting murdered around the 2 1/2 tentacle mark. How many do you need to fucking lop off anyway mate?

Youll notice that on 3 or 4 tentacles half way down there are orange bulges, like tumor growths. Use the trap sign Yrden on the ground where that orange part of the tenticle hits as it tries to smack you. Once you lop off 3 or 4 tentacles, theres a QTE you have to initiate by jumping on its tentacle as it swings down to try and hit you, followed by another QTE to stay holding on and attack to said tentacle. Once you do that, the Keyran freaks out and smashed a bridge that then falls on top of it. You gotta run up the bridge to the top and whack it in the head!
Ok well I got closer this time with your help. I lopped off three of them, the rubble fell on the beast, and then I ran up the wrong side of the incline and got killed by some falling rock or some shit. Lol... So do I go through the left side of the incline to stab him?

So yep. I run up the incline on the left and try to get to the top, he throws some rock at me over and over and knocks me back. it doesn't matter how many Quen I use, he always overpowers me and kills me before I reach the QTE.

Having done this in response to one of the earlier, massive threads expressing how hard this fight is on Easy, I can say with utmost assurance that since you're playing on Easy, you will not have any QTEs in this fight, at all, unless you count the clicking mouse button while on tentacle a QTE.

So should I try Normal then? I'm already getting butchered by the high damage the tentacles do. And wait, you're saying it's MORE difficult on EASY? LOLWUT

...no, I'm saying there are no QTEs on easy (outside of mouse clicking), so you shouldn't worry about "reaching the QTE" as you expressed in the post I quoted.

As an aside, the inclusion or exclusion, of the QTEs are the only real difference in difficulty levels in this fight. Yes, he can hit harder, but you can do the entire fight without being hit, so that's not really meaningful. I played it exhaustively back when I was trying to work out if there were conversational choices here and earlier that could, in some combination get Sile to sleep with you. :p I've concluded she's just a big flirt.

So how do you defeat it on Easy if there isn't any QTE after you lop off the three tentacles?
if you actually use that "search" function above, you'll find more detailed answer for the same topic.

When you walk up the fallen bridge, you automatically kill it. No QTE involved.

When I walk up the bridge I get killed by rocks. :l

Well, yes, you obviously have to dodge the rocks. If you're really having trouble doing that, either run immediately towards the bridge even before it's fallen, as that will generally result in the rocks hitting you, but propelling you forward, or dodge rocks and wait till you have dodged a rock before starting up the bridge and then roll forward as the next rock or two heads your way.

I dunno what to say. I just brute forced my way up as outlined in option A when I was redoing this a gazillion times to try to get Sile to sleep with me. :p
