Have you guys all installed the patch?

Just curious...

When you jump on the tentacle go all stabby until the bar is filled. Then, when the progress bar disappears start pressing the space bar like a crazy person.

Geralt will jump off and the monster will knock down the bridge.

I will say it, there seems to be an issue with QTE for some of us - no one is saying it is the game and some are saying it is the users but there are other threads on the subject.

I kept trying for 10+ hours, riding that tentacles like a henti cat girl with no luck filling the bar. Easy, difficult QTE turned off, potion, trap, all the other tenacles cut off and just could not fill the bar, mouse, replacement mouse, and game pad...epic fail.

Something is definitely wrong here for you. If a senior gamer with the beginning of arthritis in his hands can beat this boss on the first try, this is a major bug that needs fixing.

Running on XP with an unlocked 4th core Phenom2 X3 720, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD5750

it happend to me to, the bridge was not falling i went to the other side of the map or lake, and then he hit it with his back side tentacle, go at the back of the map (opposite of falling bridge) and see if the problem persists.

P.S. I used XP too, and my system is lower than yours.

I did install the patch. It got installed automatically after the main installation finished.

Is there no other way to beat this boss? It sad, because i've no way to progress in this game while I love the hell out of it :)

The first time with this guy ( or gal ) I made it to the tenticle ride and got a bit twisted on what to do, then saw the Mouse icon at the bottom indicatating I needed to right click, I did and found myself on the ground and stood there ( more or less ) and got whacke as I couldn't quite figure out what to do next. Took a few tries before I got that far again and all was going well, when my mouse response got all crazy. Figured it was a bug, After I lost to that thing again, and some investigation, no bug, dead batteries in the mouse. I think there may be a lesson in here some where about using a wireless mouse for gaming. : )

there are other threads, where good gamers have uploaded their saves after the battle, some even will take your game and finish the battle.

I have no trouble cutting the four tentacles off. The qte just does not work like it should. I've never even seen the space-bar-prompt after I finish mashing the right mouse button. My question was whether there is a way to beat this boss without having to do the qte. But I guess not.

I spent 3 days on this battle. Changed mouse settings, downloaded 1.1 patch, etc. Today was reading forums for help again. Come accross a sugestion to lower resolution. Figured what the heck, lowered resolution by 1 level and was able to complete the battle in fisat try. THANKS!!

I am playing at full resolution ( 1920x1080 ). Been so busy with other stuff I haven't had time to get back and play with Kayran. Once I get my tenticle chopping skills down, then I'll work on the next phase as I suspect that will take some time. Thing really does get mad when you start chopping those things off.

Far as I know, you must cut off three tentacles, which then prompts the tentacle ride QTE. After you jump off, you run up that stone slab and you're done.

Maybe so. I was thinking that I had noticed it fall before the third tenticle was cut and thought you might be able to get there at that time. Maybe not unless you have cut two tenticles on that side. It was just a thought after the fact. : ) I know one thing, I had absolutely no idea of what I was doing at that point. I just took off, saw the slab and headed up that thing and it turned out that it was the right move. I had messed with that thing about 10 times or so. Finding that "Safe" spot was helpful for sure, as my potions had run out. Went back to get my reward, and immediately ran into Triss and the barge thing. Hope I get chance to do the Troll thing as I haven't as yet.

Hey guys, I'm having a major problem with the Kayran battle. Everything works fine until the ramp becomes available. When I try running up, it's as if the ramp is too steep, and my character can't walk up it, no matter how I try getting up. I'll slowly start walking up, but it's like it's made of ice and I can almost get halfway without getting hit by the tentacles. Anyone else having this problem?

I don't know how many tenticles you have cut off and which ones, But I'd cut two on that side and one on the boat side. If yiu can get one on the boat side, run back over by the Bridge abutment. Yiu see a pair of feet at the bottom, stans just to the left and ack of them and you should be somewhat safe. Then you can recuperate and Work on the two tenticles on that side. Once those two are gone. You will get a cue I mouse right click and you have to click fast to fill the bar, then Mouse left click cue, then fill the bar, then start spamming the spacebar. I never saw a cue for the space bar, just started tapping it like crazy. Went to my "Safe spot to recuperate then took off toward the slab and up. Mind you, I didn't have a clue to what I was doing at the time, but it must have been right as it worked.
