I'm struggling to stay alive on normal (which is awesome, I love difficult games and adapting)


My Gods, if you survive and beat impossible mode..you truly are awesome ...or spend too much time playing games ;)

becauase if you die, you have to start all over?

does it wipe your saves?

I suspect they will patch this; I can't imagine more than a handful of gamers ever going through the whole game without dying or cheating. I wonder if they ever tried this themselves in testing (with the final build).

My suggestion is to have a save point at the end of every chapter. Even that will be a pretty good challenge assuming the fights are at least as hard as "hard" mode.

While I enjoy a challenge, Impossible Mode looks like something only the most OCD will do (that's not me). A lot of traps and picking and choosing your fights. I probably wouldn't even bother with the sword tree, as it's mostly useless anyways outside of being able to hit multiple opponents halfway down it, which you probably don't want to be in that type of situation to even begin with on Impossible Mode.

What would be the most impressive is someone who managed it on their first try, if it had allowed you to. :p There are a few instances throughout the game that have nothing to do with combat really that can kill you (and did kill me) seemingly out of left field.

*laugh* It really bugged me that there's no way to get past opponents (or friendly NPCs for that matter) if they box you in, until I realized I can drop a trap at my feet. Sure, I take the damage as well, but it's the price I pay for opening up a route through their ranks. :p

I'm playing impossible after finishing the game twice :)

I have died from nekker backstabs in chapter 1 a couple of times, both not from fights but from surprises navigating the map. In both cases I tried to escape (back dodge) and turning my back to the nekkers results in instant death.

On my third attempt I will take hardiness, which appears of low use but +50 HP at the start of the game is huge. I will follow with bomb damage, that is great vs mobs. This must be the only mode where I will actually use all available options.

I think I'll skip daggers in favor of bombs, since I can make grapeshot from ingredients doing about the same damage but with AOE and unblockable. Also, I will take two levels in backstab resistance before anything else after training.

I should add that dying in the prologue (talking to Roche) does not disable your saves. I died during the final dragon scene because of some bug with quick-clicking.

Truly, impossible is the only REAL way to play the game ;) Only now I use bombs and try to think ahead, as Geralt might do in my place :D I will even use traps for the endegra queens.
Just don't try to fight the hidden boss in act 3 :P

PS : it really s*** when enemies attack you after dialogue and Geralt prances around with sword undrawn and no protection (quen undone) (for example, after talking to Dimitri)
DEVS !! FIX THIS BUG

I think I will play the expansion on impossible so I can savour the story instead of breezing through the game, since this greatly increases realism (and game life, xD). Devs, please don't restrict it to finishing the game !

Hard isn’t hard. That’s all I can say. But I did die a couple of times while grinding and trying to pull some cool moves. So if I stopped doing that I might be able to beat impossible. I don’t feel like trying though because this kind of difficulty is so 1993.

A tester finished the game with a Pickaxe, come ON* we can do better.

Lets us play and complete impossible mode with the following
1. Patch 1.35
2. Shirtless
3. Gloveless
4. Bootless
5. Polearms class weapon (ONLY)
6. No skills in Magic Tree
7. Blue Stripes Tattoo on his neck/shoulder

WARNING SPOILERS: Game can end prematurely, during Letho's first fight....keep tapping side_roll before the gameplay fight beings..Letho's fire can cause TAN.

(Optional, one is allowed to use a script/mechanism to press system reset button just before dying)

Just saying but I posted this months ago right after the game came out and finding it hard as shit. Obviously everyone now knows the ins and outs of the game and can beat it pretty easily on impossible ;)

But for the first few times playing when you don't know everything or have mastered the skills needed to survive it still is hard as fuck.
