She's not my type... I prefer no make-up and cuter... And for the character design in general, I think Japanese are miles ahead Americans / Europeans in video games, comics, etc.

mippoh: If you want a shocked reaction from Triss, choose to go alone on the Rose of remembrance quest. Her facial expression is priceless =D
avatar
Cadenza: I second this.
I was pissed when I found out what I declined! I am definitely NOT going to go alone on my next play through.

Ebon-Hawk: Sorry guys, for me Triss comes second to Bastila :)
avatar
Kalfear: LOL, seriously?

I could see coming second to the red head in Dragon Age Origin (Mmmmmmm, looks and voice) but not Ice Queen Bastila
I would rather not get into a discussion about finer points of a fantasy characters because in the end we will need to agree to disagree. In principle a half naked flirty character is not necessary better from on a surface reserved though internally torn by emotions one.

the japanese designs are juvenile and unrealistic. doesn't really help immerse the player in the world when every female is wearing bikini armors.
I like Triss because she is just a normal girl that can handle adventures with you but still need your help. She is normal and hot.

It depends if you want a realistic world or not. And the bikini armor isn't the majority either. Also, it's really just a matter of taste and which aesthetic you prefer.

One of the draws of this game is that the characters are more realistic than that, though. Japanese characters tend to be caricatures (some more than others), and that wouldn't fit into a game like this.

Hopefully that doesn't come across as rude. I just take exception to the idea that one stylistic approach is "miles ahead" when characters are a matter of preference and what works within the setting.

You're right that my choice of "miles ahead" was wrong. I should have said that I prefer the average Japanese character desig a lot more.

And you're also right that it wouldn't fit that game either. But was there this kind of makeup in the medieval times? I would have liked it a lot more if she didn't have black around eyes, etc.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they did use makeup in medieval times. It was just a bit more dangerous back then.

Maybe someone will come up with an "au naturale" mod? :)

Aaden: Yeah, I read them all. But I guess I'll have to reread them some time (for now, there's the song of ice and fire waiting for me.. but after that, or maybe between two books of that series). So far, I only read them once and in parts it really got over my head. It's difficult to keep all the political groups and their interests apart and which spy works for whom and the interests of every single sorceress/sorcerer etc.
Long story short: I have to admit that I don't even recall that particular fight between the two of them. Could you give me a hint/some context?
Oh, and: Full agreement on the fireballs. lol

Germanicanus: Sure. [SPOILERS]
As you remember, Yennefer was searching for Geralt and Ciri. She contacted Triss via a magic mirror. Triss was surprised yet happy to see her old friend, but Yennefer quickly sensed something wrong and asked Triss if she is hiding something. Triss had declined but then Philippa walked in (Yennefer implies Phil and Triss have an affair, which is most likely true). When Yennefer asked them to make a deal: her information regarding Vilgefortz (the main nemesis) for offering help to find Ciri and Geralt, both of them refused, Philippa's declaring she left the Lodge (Yennefer was present during the first meeting). Yennefer then directly asked Triss - and received no response. Then all of sudden Triss started to beg her for forgiveness. It all ends with Yennefer's "No, Triss, never". Such a powerful scene. Triss' unwillingness to help Yennefer is even more tragic, considering she then went to spy her on Philippa's behalf, and before that she completely ignores Yennefer during the Lodge's meeting when Yennefer needed her the most. I am sure W3 will touch this issue and Yennefer won't be fully acceptive of her ex-bff.
Yeah, problem is, as far as I remember, Yennefer and Triss had plenty of time to discuss any and all of the possible "misunderstandings" they might have had before the final scenes in Rivia and I can't recall any hostility between the two.

Not to mention if I had to choose between a manipulative, cold, cheating bitch and an equally manipulative bitch that seem to care for me, I'd pick the later.
JAJA, call me pervert but at the time i was writting this, the number of replies on this post was 69 XD
oh yes, Triss is absolutely georgeus, nice work modelling those curvs, and the animations looks very good too
@hismastersvoice

Lol i like your comparison between Yen and Triss, so true lol. I like Triss but Yen is good too, her fiery character has its charms although shes fucked up rofl!!!

I was expecting her character to change/soften when she has amnesia but after hearing Letho talking about her getting into trouble and trying to seduce his bro to brew mistrust, seems she did not change -.- TBH come to think of it i dunno why i did like Yen, wonder what Geralt was thinking when he hooked up with her...

Yennefer is the more typical sorceress. In many ways, she is a lot like Philippa and Sile, but she was never quite as interested in politics as they were. Definitely out for number one, so to speak. Geralt's wish that tied her to him surprised and touched her, and she really loves him for it, but it didn't stop her from having a turbulent relationship with him and affairs with other people. She has very limited loyalties--Geralt and Ciri, and Ciri is the priority.

Triss is genuinely friendlier and more idealistic, but she's terribly insecure and can be manipulated by domineering people. It tends to get her into trouble because her loyalties get divided. I don't really agree that she betrayed Yennefer (even with Geralt, she's wrong but there are circumstances that complicate the situation), but she certainly "let her down". At the moment of real crisis at the end of the fifth book, however, Triss chooses Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer over everything else. It's just that it takes a crisis for her to find the strength to do it.

Well, the cold, cheating one is of course Yennefer. I think there's no doubt about it, especially if someone read the Shard of Ice (or whatever the English name is) short story. At least Triss seems to genuinely care about Geralt, even if she didn't share every last bit of sensitive information with him.
