darkwoof: Nope, I did mainly the main quest and took up some of the side quests, but did not finish a number of them. I'm usually the kind that will focus on side quests on subsequent run, but focus on the main during the first run cos I'm impatient getting to the end of the story.
I'm estimating that if I only do the main plot I'll run roughly about 25 hours or so. Since I'm only doing one of the main branch according to the game guide, taking both branches into consideration (from the game guide it seems like both will lead to quite different situations) I think it'd yield pretty close to the 40hr mark.
In comparison Steam says I played 47hrs on Witcher 1, and that's including completion of some of the mods included and a partial replay of the original campaign.
Now here is the quote from there rep. And match it with your description. Still think that there was no exaggeration ? "The Witcher @Sarvesh: we're estimating around 40h playthrough for main storyline. But that SHOULD be doubled or tippled... for the non-linearity. :) "
