Hi, has anyone understood the alchemy screen ?

I dont understand how to use it. Exactly i dont understand:

1) how to see what ingrediens a formulae needs
2) how to see if i have this ingrediant
3) how to put the ingredients together and make the potion/bomb/oil

Its been simplified.

You need a formula, then you need ingredients.

You select a formula from the list. If you have the necessary ingredients, it will fill the formula for you. You then just press the create button. This must be done from the meditation menu which can be accessed by holding down "Ctrl" and then pressing the middle icon. Then select alchemy.

Manual also explains this in most likely better detail.

i see the following information on the alchemy screen:

on the left side is a list of formula that i own.
in the middle is a circular thing where most likely the mixing should take place. it has slots with special "circular signs".
on the right is a list with similar circular signs but different coloring (?) this list contains different information depending on what formula is selected. possibly it could be the list of needed ingrediants.
however when changing the formula also the active slots of the middle circle change. the "circular signs" that are "active" in the list on the right and on the middle mixing part do not corelate. meaning that for example in the list a circular sign is active but in the mixing part it is not. or also the other way around where in the mixing part the sign is active but on the list it is not.

Yea in the old fashion system system after you made the potion/whatever it showed up in your inventory and you right clicked it to consume... The simple way now is to go to the meditate screen pick another screen and is there another menu I forget drink it...then it expires in 3mins!!

TW1 is a great game set in a great universe.

TW2 is a great game set in the same universe whilst trying to portray Geralt more like his novel counterpart. Deadly but not superman.

The only thing I know of that lasts 3 mins are Oils for swords, and after it runs out you just apply it again in the inventory.

i have had another look and i come to two conclusions:

1) the game puts the required ingrediants for the selected formula into the mixing slots automaticly. If you dont have all ingrediants there is no way to tell which ones you are missing. best is to write the names down once you have all for a formula so can remember them.

2) the list on the right side of the screen is totalaly random something ... (??)

The manual just explains whats there...not how to use it...but the ingredients are automatically selected for you AND if it says create(or such) you have enough to make it..there should also be a formular (on the right) that lists the ingredients needed and explains what it does...so its simplier than TW1. I believe as you acquire new formulars they will be listed on the left alchemy screen although you may not have all that are necessary unless the create option appears> I hope I'm right!! Haven't done it yet but do you need to meditate to apply the oil that is quickly expiring as the mob ganks you ..of course you can't meditate if your in battle!!??

No you do not need to meditate to use oils, just drag and drop on the sword. However you must meditate to make them.

Since there are ingredients that are for alchemy and for crafting, you'd want to select yourself, which rebis, vermilion etc. ingredient you want to use. I haven't figured out how to change an ingredient. Methinks, this is over-simplified (the old system wasn't that hard to use, now was it?). I'd like to actually see and handle my gathered ingredients, this system brutally kills the immersion.

You'd think, game devs use beta testers to avoid such regrettable errors.

In the alchemy screen, you will see a particular symbol next to each ingredient that is currently selected for that formula. That symbol equates to a list on the right, select the same symbol and drag and drop a different ingredient from that list to the corresponding slot on the formula.

i do understand that the game will put the ingrediants in automaticly and then i can create the potions but i want to know the incredieants beforehand so that i can buy or collect missing ones.

OK I found it. Look under Journal then under Formulae and it lists the ingreds...sorry about the grief I forgot where I saw it. If your planning ahead Ialso found a web site that had all the formulars listed (not recipes)

Ah thanks. I looked at the formulas in the alchemy screen and in the inventar. gonna have a look at the journal !

Ah, thanks... so I need to switch to MKB, when I want do use anything inventory related *sigh*. Let's see, if the toggle key works, when it's on controller...
