Some people like teenagers and students cannot afford the game. Other people, like myself, have grown sceptical towards the gaming industry for bringing us heaps amount of s*** games over the years, so we use cracked game as an extended demo.
When i heard about The Witcher in 2009, a game from frickin Poland, i didnt know what to belive. WTF is this ? So i pirated the game... Fell completely in love and ended up buying 6 copies of the game + the sequel so far.
So piracy can indeed be a good thing. I am sure tens of thousands, if not in the hundreds of thousands, copies sold of TW1 stems from pirates being honest after liking the game, and also from them spreading it to their friends and family.
