I chose to lie to the guy he locks me in the cellar i break down the door grab my weapons to kill the guys equip them and it still doesn't let me use anything but my hands is this a bug....i also die in 2 hits by them pretty fail.

I never got into this quest but I have encounter the same (or similar) bug at another location. I was in Act III when I talked to an NPC. After the talk neither 1, 2 or clicking on them in the radial menu worked, and I had to fight with my fists. Only a reload of a previous save worked.

I just did this and I managed to equip a sword and fight with it OK. The sword I got wasn't from the chest with all my weapons in it though, it was from a rack nearby. Maybe try that? Went back and picked up my weapons afterward.

On a related note it's a bit weird that you can't roll unless you have a weapon equipped...

And you can't use bombs either..every second is precious..TW1 always reloaded with you in the wrong direction also I believe!!

I'm having a hard time recouping my weapons I thopught I scoured that place used the medallion too!!

you have to grab the sword thats leaning on the rack and fight with that untill you kill every one off
