Freewind: the first game doesn't require use of potions and oils. Necrophages such as drowners are vulnerable to necrophages oils.

the witcher 2 is too easy - all foes go down with 2 or 3 slashes. To defeat a group, just be careful not to be surrounded; try rolling around. Once you learn group finishing moves or so, it becomes even easier.

navigating the dungeons doesn't require cat potions - the only place that would probably requires cat potions is the secret entrance into the Dwarwen town.

people who complains this game is hard and blame on the developers have a problem with their mentality. They probably like the guy in this video:

Here's a response to him. My Insane run at that very same fight he cuss'ed so much about!

The Witcher 2 - This I Like - (A video response to an Idiot)

But the game is not that easy either. One single careless moment in Insane and GG. ^^ I'm still alive and kicking at Act 1 but lots of "OMFG That was too close". Again, the game is not that easy either and at Hard or lower difficulties people just think that because they can reload when Geralt dies.

Now, can't do that in Insane! However, the adrenaline and tension is working to bring the best of me. Using all tools I have at my disposal to survive is a lot more fun than dying because I thought I didn't need to use any of them!

why are these the always the people that post on youtube? skilless, zero patience, and lack the basic concept of trial and error, and learning from your mistakes.
*shrug* If you want brutal, in the adventure/RPG genre -- try roguelikes; either the Nethack camp or the Angband camp. They all require a LOT of learning and player skill, default to permanent death marked in the save file, and are difficult enough that even experienced players find it challenging to actually win.

born2expire: no battles take the preparation of the first game,
The first game rarely required any preperation for battle.

Even on hard, I never used any oils or potions, except for cat to see in the dark.
I think people have the right to say the game is too hard for them. I was pretty mean in some of posts, ridiculing some who complain about the hard game.

But, I won't regret to throw stones at some who humiliate the developers because they cannot play the game.

Complete idiots they are !
Suggestion: Play on Hard difficulty but don't upgrade your swords or armor.

Wear the leather jacket, worn leather boots, trousers the whole game. Use the Long Sword and the Witcher's Silver Sword.

Not only is this more difficult, it's more realistic: Obviously Gerat isn't going around swapping swords and armor, nor do different swords and armor realistically make such exxagerated differences.

It's pleasing to know that, far down the story, you are still using "your swords" which have been through everything with you.

Although I haven't played the game yet, this guy is hopeless.

He's complaining that they're circling him.

Well, what do you want a group of people to do, line up so you can take them out?

Then he whines that a guy with a shield is blocking him?

Rather than change his tatics, he keeps doing the same things wrong, and complaining when he gets the same results, namely death.

Some people really aren't suited to gaming.

That sounds like your living a cheapskate's life >_>
Geralt is not a knight or true swordman you know lol he doesnt have loyalty, not even to his swords : P

Oh yes, he does. In the books he gets a dwarven sihil from Yarpen which he then keeps sacred.
Either way, there's a difference between replacing broken equipment, getting a gift and upgrading because that new thingy is so shiny and awesome! I never sold Aerondight, for example, because it was a very meaningful gift... no matter if inventory space got scarce.
What is more, you'd hardly ever loot stuff that is in good condition and fits your size and a witcher's salary is hardly enough to pay a blacksmith in every town he gets to for making him a new, stronger armor.

Hey i do that too
IN fact i used zero weight mod and keep any non-generic armor and sword
but
that doesnt mean
im gonna use something weaker than my best weapon in a fight other than joke fights
(joke fight i something like finishing the game but coming back to beat letho wearing basic weapons like raven armor)

Neither do I.
I just wanted to make clear that a) Geralt IS loyal to / cherishes (parts of) his equipment and b) keeping the stuff from the beginning is not that bad an idea and has nothing to do with being a cheapskate - but on contrary is much more realistic in different ways.

Actually,
bringing a bunch of old weapons that you not gonna use
on an important mission like tracing the kingslayer quite not realistic...
Besides, brinng more than two swords is already realistic
Normally people keep them at store house or home which too bad we dont have here
I havent read the whole thread, so I will just throw my 2 orens in...

Once I got Quen fully upgraded, the game was cake on hard. It almost felt like cheating it was that overpowered. With sign intensity boosts, my Quen lasted a good 2:30 seconds if I remember correctly.

I sometimes forced my self to take hits just so I could get rid of my shield so I could regenerate Vigor. I think to balance Quen out, they should not allow you to run or dodge as fast. Not necessarily walking speed, but not full running speed.

Once your quen fullly upgraded, the game was cake on hard...but did you not die anymore after that?
