It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Bump! Has this problem been acknowledged by CD Projekt? This has to be the #1 priority in the fix list, and I mean a hotfix being rolled out in the first few days. I've never seen anything like this, it's ridiculous.
Same problem here!

Lowering desktop doesn't work for me!
Same here, changing res (or disabling full screen) does not work.

Horrible...
Could we have a word from devs?

It will be nice...
Same problem with 16:10 res the launcher just pops up after the start up videos

same issue here. Radeon 5870, latest drivers. 2560x1600 and it won't lauch. Witcher2.exe just silently dies. Not even a basic error in the error log? Come on. Seriously?

Changing it to windowed mode works, but puts a bright line at the bottom of the window.

Update: Changing my desktop resolution to 1920x1200 instead instead of the monitor's native 2560x1600 makes it launch in fullscreen mode with 2560x1600 selected in the witcher configurator. Dunno if it's really playing at 2560 or not. But, better than nothing.

For the record, same issue with my HD 6950 at 2560x1440. The "bright line" at the bottom of the screen in windowed mode is the Windows taskbar, by the way. Very irritating which is why I don't want to play in that mode. Alt+Enter to enter fullscreen mode does not work.

Changing my desktop resolution is not really an acceptable solution. I hope we'll see a fix for this issue soon.

Ok so this is exactly what happens in my case, and apparently many others. And obviously it's been established that it's independent from whether nvidia or amd card is in question.

This needs to be addressed quickly!
Nothing works for me

- Tried windowed mode

- Tried lowering dekstop resolution

All it does is prompt me back to launcher
Same issue. Trying to run the game on a 27 inch iMac. Won't run unless I run it in windowed mode. Is there a chance this could be fixed? Running in window mode just doesn't cut it. :-/
Same issue on my 24 inch monitor @ 2048x1152
Any suggestions on fixing that, Devs? Let's keep this thread bumped up, people.
now i'm able to play. i fixed the problem this way: run as admin option was selected and i removed it. now i need to know how to import TW1 savegame to TW2. Any help?

Same issue.
ATI 5870,
2560x1600 native resolution

Game does NOT start in Fullscreen having the native resolution applied. Lowering the Windows resolution to 1680x1050 and then starting fullscreen with 2560x1600 works.
Lowering desktop resolution still wouldn't work for me -- I had to turn off scaling in the new beta Nvidia drivers for it to work, and now it launches at 2560x1600 with my desktop at 1920x1200
