I highly doubt thats what the people in that topic did. IMO you can very easily push 60+ on TW1 (although I admit 100+ does sound a bit too much).

I think the problem isn't so much the length its the extremely abrupt ending, as the pcgamer review said. I would of happily paid twice as much for them to develop the game for a few more months or maybe a year so that the game was properly wrapped up (of course I dont mind a cliffhanger or 2). I just hope they do release the extra chapters as DLC and that its high quality, as quite often DLC are hastily put out, full of even more bugs, and are very very short.

Agreed, DLC is such crappy invention towards a real EXPANSION, remember baldurs gate? Hell even mass effect 2 had at least 1 proper expansion or addon. I'm with you, let's hope they'll make more chapters and make it a single package for a good price!

So I'm not going to be expecting much of the future DLC now :/. I would happily pay £20-30 for a good expansion which has another 5-10 hours, than get crap DLC that they put out for free. After all, its not in their interest to spend time (and money) working on something that they're not going to profit off of, so I'm going to be expecting it to be of pretty low quality.

I agree that the game is shorter than the first Witcher. I spent about 60 hours doing everything on first Witcher, and about 28 hours top (on hard) on the second witcher.

HOWEVER, you don't get to see everything probably 70% on one play through since Chapter 2 is entirely different if you choose different path at the end of chapter 1. This means quite a whole lot of new game play to be doing in chapter 2 and probably a bit of 3. That will up the total hour by a bit.

The sidequests in Witcher 2 is better arranged than the silly running around errand boy of Witcher 1 which I prefer, though there could be a bit more sidequests.

In Witcher 1 by the beginning of the first chapter I already feel that the game is being dragged a bit. Regardless Witcher 2 conclusion isn't exactly catching either. It could have been executed better. But the last talk does resolve a lot of questions and open a shit ton for the Witcher 3 story.

Just wanted to point out that CD Projekt announced that all future DLC will be 100% free.

With a price tag like that I can live with DLC. :)

I have finished the game on normal without touching mini-game side quest and few others. I have read the journal and passed a little time on crafting. It took me around 25 hours. If you go deep into crafting (traps etc) and do all side quest it will surely take you 35 hours unless you skip dialog options. I found it satisfying considering amazingly different possible gameplay branches.
Now, I will start again but play slowly to do every possible thing this time. And a whole different chapter 2 and chapter 3 is a very serious thing guys. Please do not forget that while calculating the playtime of the game. CPR would easily make a longer but linear game with this material at hand but they did chose the replay value and I respect that.
Putting all its flaws (Inventory, looting, etc) aside, Witcher 2 is an "INCREDIBLE" game from start to finish with its unmatched art style, graphics and masterfully told story.

Normally I would agree but CD Projekt is a company that is so different to any other company that you never know what to expect. They spent over a million dollars to make the enhanced edition of the Witcher 1 and they gave it away for free to everyone who bought the "normal" edition, or so I've heard. Maybe this was a one time thing, but the possibility certainly exists that they're going to create a huge DLC for free.

Actually, what they have consistently said was that the DLC would be free and that they will charge for any expansions.

posts like this make me scratch my head. One guy says its 20 hours so you think it is? Its 20 hours if you rush. A game like this easily will take most RPG players 40 + hours, lots to explore, lots of crafting, sidquests.

I didn't rush, I did every sidequest i found apart from 1, did I explore every single centimeter of the game? I cant say I did, but I certainly did most of it. I've seen 1 or 2 side quests mentioned that I didn't find, but at most that would only add a couple of hours onto the gameplay, so lets say 20-25.

A few people have said they've completed it in 12, now thats obviously rushing so I'd say the main story quest is 12 hours and all the side quests are another 10-12 ontop of that, depending on what difficulty you play on. Which is pretty much the average I think for most RPGs now, its just that they spoilt us with TW1.

I have 15 hours and im still in Lobiden............. And I am still finding little side quests, places to explore. game has a lot of content for those who take their time and explore, just how I like my RPG's.

Not to mention the huge replayabilty.

I would usually agree but the ending left a bitter taste in my mouth, I'm not sure if I want to replay it again or not, definitely not in the near future.

I might load up a save from Act 1 to see how a different decision changes Act 2 out of curiosity, but I think thats it.
