you know if somebody's outta ideas what to mod: make a mod that shows which books you've read/diagrams you already own. would save me a lot of hassle, money and nerves.

the talisman i already have.

what i do need is the essence of death item to complete the meletiles heart side quest in chapter 1, because this is the only way to actually "clean" the talisman that would be otherwise cursed.
I think a lot of people would enjoy a mod rebalancing Quen and rolling (and instant group finishers), since they're completely broken and take away the fun of combat. You could avoid using them of course, but I don't think a player should have to ignore some of his abilities when they could be balanced. Quen and rolling can make you invincible right from the start.

Just speaking my mind, I don't have any modding knowledge and I don't even know if this can be made. I do know however that most hard mode players consider the second half of the game to be boring combat wise, and increasing the difficulty to make the whole game as tense as the first fights would be downright amazing.

But how would you go about re-balancing rolling, you either can roll, or you can't. Sure how fast is a variable, but rolling is rolling. Rolling will always be a silly move, because in sword combat people do NOT roll at all.

So you want a mod to disable rolling? ;P

It possibly was said already many times, but that moment was done in W1 better than in W2. If there was not only ONE evasive maneuver - roll - but sidestep, side or back jump, flank move or even forward leap from W1, there will be little to no complaints about it. Gameplay wise that moves are equal to roll, but combat with them will be much more interesting and realistic, imho.
Sadly, modding those impossible without new animations and import-export mod tools atm.

As well as links to the mod tutorials. Though atm that is not a lot of info, it might become more later on.

Dark0ne: Do you think if I set up the Nexus Wiki to take on Witcher content it would be used for Witcher 2 modding tutorials/examples?
I would love to learn to do simple mods for this game. I have lots of gaming experience but no coding/modding experience.

Is there a good newbie tutorial somewhere? I would like to contribute and not just benefit! (I know you guys enjoy doing it for us, but just the same.)

The only complaint I have about opening a nexus is they're pretty popular with certain mods that are absolutely unnecessary. I'm also very against the "deviant art" atmosphere where "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all if it doesn't pander to you"

That doesn't help anything. If your mod is awful or has awful intentions behind it it needs to be buried. Sorry if that opinion is abrasive, I'm just sick to death of these mods that are essentially "this is my ideal woman/man, lets put dicks on Ogres because they obviously need dongs flying around in my game, hey guys LOOK! It's important!"

:|

As for everything else the nexus provides, sure I agree and like that. It's good to have a centralized place for the "best" mods and to help modders evolve and create good things. I have no qualms with that.

Link for only tutorial i know of is already on the op post.
Following it you can unpack pack0.dzip file that contain almost all resources except langpacks and dlc. Then you just look around unpacked things and research through see-try-fail-try-win what you can do with them =)

Atm there are editable .xml and .csv files plus in aforementioned tutorial was link for texture unpack-repack tools.
For anything other (.w2anything files extensions) there are no tools, that i know of.
Right now mostly interesting is .xml`s with items and abilities descriptions, shop descriptions also, try do something with them for a start.

To work, modded files should be placed in "The Witcher 2\CookedPC\" in subfolder they were unpacked in.

Good luck =)

DaulphinosSmaf: Could someone perhaps add arachas eyes to a shop in Flotsam? It would be much appreciated. Thanks!
All in favour say Eye!
Missed my chance for these because of cutscene.

I ended up giving up and selling it to her. 200 orens and quest complete. You dont miss out on much apparently. There really needs to be a way to flag quest ingredients (troll tongue/essence of death/that other thing you get from the back of the cave for poison resistance potion etc).

The Nexus doesn't censor. Nor would I want them to. So what?
My eternal thanks to the modders. Keep em coming!

We desperately need an Item stat comparison mod when in shops. :(

I had looked at that info and it seemed daunting.

I took a crack at it and I now have the files to peruse. Thanks for the encouragement!

My first play, I had no trouble looting monster. Second one I had to kill it twice. And, yes, told elf I'd catch up both times.

The event is a little buggie.

The person who maintains Game Mods Core usually does NOT give credit to the original modder. In most cases, the only name on the files is his. He has several of my mods for The Witcher 1 on his site, and my name isn't on any of them. I have asked him to fix this many times -- starting more than a month ago -- and he told me that putting my name on the mods that I had made "would be an awful lot of work."

Given that he is taking credit for mods that he did not make, I wish you would take the link to his site out of your first post.

Thank you.
