There is an official recommended settings for The Witcher 2:

OS: Windows XP/Vista/7
CPU: Quad Core Intel or similar AMD
RAM: 3 GB RAM for Windows XP, 4 GB RAM for Windows Vista and 7
GPU: Nvidia GF 260 1GB or ATI HD4850 1GB
HDD: 16 GB HDD space

I wonder what does it mean recommended settings?
This settings means that it will be set to all details max with a FPS over 30?
On what kind resolution 720p, 1080p?

I have got system:

OS: Windows 7 x64
CPU: Intel i5-750 2.66 GHz Quad Core
RAM: 4 GB RAM DDR3 1333 MHz
GPU: ATI HD5850 1GB
HDD: 1.5 TB

I wonder if I will be able to play The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on 1920x1080 with >30 FPS with all details max and AAx8 AFx16 and other high quality options?

The Witcher on my configuration with all details max out and with 1920x1080 is stable 60 FPS all over the time.

Usually spec requirements are more guidelines than actual benchmarks, so taking in consideration your system I say there is a 99% chance that you will be able to play at maximum quality with a decent framerate.

If not you can always tweak it, there is rarely a significant visual difference between AAx4 and AAx8, meaning you might not even notice what type of AA you have until you look at your settings. :)

It's working only on High Details not Ultra Details on my system and between 24-32 FPS on 1920x1080.

I have clicked Auto-Settings options.

high spec: high 30s at 1080p with vsync enabled
ultra spec: 7-8 FPS (didn't test for long as it was obviously totally unplayable)

edit:
moving to ultra spec with disabled ubersampling and SSAO, i get high 20s @ 1080p

I'm using vsync on. Will that affect gameplay? Card runs cooler (GTX 570 ASUS DirectCU II)

yeh it's the ubersampling that does it. I have a 5970 and an i7 920 at 3.8 ghz and I get 10-15 fps on ultra with ubersampling settings. If I choose ultra settings with the ubersampling off I get 25-35 fps. High I get 30-35 fps, med 35-40fps and low 40-45. The ATI scaling is total F'ed up it seems and as usual I'm guessing the devs basically only worked on the Nividia version to ensure stability and performance. It seems I won't be playing The Witcher 2 till next month then -_-. The same thing happened with brink actually, getting constant 30 fps rather than the 60-100 I should be.
I really can't be bothered paying for broken games at release, I should really just learn my lesson and wait a good 6 months when they're cheaper and the bugs are fixed, as I seem to be getting zero benefits from being an early adopter. I'd prefer if they just had a bit more dev time.

Edit: Also yeh Gidzin it will, if you have under 60 FPS during gameplay then you're adding an additional load to the system that will give you no benefit. Vsync is just used to ensure you doing get screen tears (the tearing lines when you move your camera too fast when you have 60+ fps) if you have 60+ fps if caps it at 60 so you don't get any screen tears on your screen. However if you're not getting more than 60 fps then you're just wasting resources with that setting as it provides no benefit.

Ok, so I'm running the game at max setting, except for ubersampling and SSAO is dissabled too. Running at 1600x900 on the following system

Windows 7 x64
AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE
AMD Radeon 6850 1GB slight OC
8GB RAM G.Skill Ripjaw

The game is running very smooth. The odd scene I will notice a different feel in the mouse movement meaning an FPS drop but I imagine no lower than 25 FPS or so as I can't see it chugging. I'm extremely impressed with how well the game runs, and not to mention how damn beautiful it is!

Can't say you're being fair. Just because it won't run with everything set to max on your comp it doesn't mean you got screwed. I've seen much worse releases, but this one already got me drooling. It's going to be even better playing through this one than it was for the first one. Provided they didn't mess up the storyline of course.

Thanks for the tip about übersampling though :)

I love how people are completely ubering it up whilst I'm stuck running complete minimum settings (which are beautiful regardless!) and getting 15 fps. Can't say I'm not a bit at fault, but I thought minimum meant "minimum at 30 fps" at least.

I'm on the lowest settings possible and i'm having horrendous performance.

I have disabled SSOA, Ubersampling and I have got 32 FPS 1920x1080 fullscreen, windowed mode 35 FPS. Of course everything is from Ultra High Profile.

Why is it so important that he doesn't guess? I mean, as long as he considers it smooth, why bother? It would matter if he were benchmarking, but that doesn't seem to be his intention.
