MikeP999: Couldn't have said it better myself. Besides, thus far I have found the bosses challenging but perfectly doable, and not 'insanely' difficult. I agree though that games should appeal to all users: from casual to the extremist. Otherwise, one or the other will feel alienated and lose interest quickly.

wormholewizards: There are reasons why they provided 4 different levels of difficulty.
Absolutely. I am an older gamer who apprieciates the various Difficulty levels. I will play through the first time in the easiest setting, then turn it up on the next play through. Keeps the game from becoming stale too. Ran into one of those GTE type things in Beowulf on the PS3, that was a bit annoying after a while ( it was a long sequence ) and I went to another game and gave that a rest. I don't give up on things, just go to something else for a while and then come back to it. I have benn down with that Kayran twice and made no headway, but wasn't particularly concerned about beating it any way at the time. I had forgotten to prepare before going down there anyway. That having been said, I think the person who started this thread is a closet troll and is obliquely flaming casual gamers. Unnecessary and uncalled for. Again that is my personal opinion and observation. I do moderate another forum, so am well versed in that sort of thing.

evilchamp: On a side note, I never understood what's so "hardcore" about playing a video game..
Extreme rock mountain climbing, hardcore.
Base jumping, hardcore.
Free diving, hardcore.
Michael Phelps eating 12,000 calories a day and burning them, hardcore.
Pounding your thumbs and/or fingers sitting on your chair/couch playing a video game, not hardcore
Now I'm glad I clicked this thread :)
Now that the excellent players have let us know their feelings about combat, I'd like to hear what they think about the players who demand a junk tab or changes to the alchemy system because some people are complaining about difficulties with selling the crap they accumulate or troubles with selecting components for potions.

Or, do casual players only ruin combat?

Trying to show how hardcore you are whining about the casual player is pretty sad.

Gidzin: I'm prettier!! It took almost 4ys for a follow up to TW2 alot can happen The next generation Witcher will be playable on the WII.......oh my!!
avatar
Moradin27: It only took 4 years because they created a new engine. Hopefully it won't be as long until the TW3.
I'm no game genius but I don't think it takes 4 yrs to build an engine they used Aurora for the first Unreal engine is used by many other devs iI think its a limited staff and debugging time...besides the awesome graphics the motion capture, the story, the voice actors, the ...well maybe it does take time for a good AAA game SO erase my previous post!! I'm an idiot!!
Yeah I did that simply because I dont even want to click on the "1" bottom to actually see OP's post

charleswang95: no need for swearing

zorphon: The funniest part about your reply is this:

I literally typed F, followed by 3 Asterisks (*). I didn't even type the word. I did that simply to mock the OP (who if you read the first post and the title, swore). So really, you should be saying this to the OP, not me. Who simply typed a letter followed by 3 non-alphanumerical symbols.

About time something was made for the hardcore gamer. I could give a crap about you casual gamers, mainly because you ruined a lot of games for me ... (cough, cough, DA2). And yes, it is your fault, you shouldn't have wanted to play video games in the first place.

Thank you CDPR for this great game. Sure, I have my gripes with it, but they are very minor, and as a customer, I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.

For some reason I worry that CDPR will see some of the comments and make a dumbed down version of the game for W3, or an upcoming patch. PLEASE DON'T!
avatar
Kradath: So if you go play minigold you want to get spit on by professional golfers? When you normally drive your car you should get banned from streets because you are no formal 1 driver?

Very childish such an agressive opinion. And no, it is not their fault, the developers made those games, nobody else.
Why? Because the majority of games I see out there today are absolute hacks that are meant to please everyone?

Casual gamer has ruined gaming because it makes developers more money. People don't like this.

Why do you think so many people applauded CDPR? Why aren't people applauding Activison or EA? hmmmmmmm I wonder?

You are contradicting yourself.

On the one hand you say that casual gamers bring more money, because they are the mass, on the other hand you say everyone is applauding CDPR for not making casual games.

Now what is the bigger group?

And as already said: Casual gamers don't MAKE casual games, it is publishers and developers, blame them.

What?

People are applauding CDPR because they are making a game for gamers.

Games have been dumbed down in recent years because it brings in a new audience, the casual gamer. This usually generates more money because it attracts a larger audience.

How is this contradicting anything?

So they are doing games for the lager audience, which company in a capitalistic system does not do this?

OMFG Really?

Look at Lifetime, yes the woman's channel, targets WOMEN not the entire country ... Yet it's the #1 watched cable channel.
MTV targets YOUTH ....
Atlus targets weird freaking gamers but still comes out with awesome games like Demon Souls.

It is called a NICHE MARKET. You can be financial successful w/ out tailoring to the masses. I could go on, but I'm sure you see my point.

Finally you understand. That is what I wanted to show you, there are big markets and niche markets, both can exist. So if your game becomes either one of those markets it is by the decision of the developers and the publishers.

It is not the fault of either market or its corresponding customers. ;)

I AGREE WITH THE TC; FUCK THE MINDLESS SHEEP WHO NEEDS CHEATS/GAME GUIDES/HAND HOLDING JUST TO BEAT A GAME.

NINJA GAIDEN FUCK YEAH (beaten all games on master ninja)
DEMONS SOULS FUCK YEAH (all phantoms beaten)
THE WITCHER 2 FUCK YEAH (best rpg this gen)

I ONLY PLAY GAMES THAT DEMANDS SOMETHING OF THE PLAYER, UNLIKE ANY BETHSEDA/UBISOFT/GEARBOX TITLE.

DONT LIKE THE DIFFICULTY? DEAL WITH IT.
