My system = i5-760, Evga 580 GTX SC, 4GB of Ram, Windows 7 64-bit.

Things tend to get buried very quickly in the official 1.1 patch thread so I decided to post a thread about this pretty bad issue.

Since installing the patch the pop-in seems to be set really low regardless of what settings are chosen in the launcher or .ini. Tested every single preset, LOD setting and texture size and it is always the same.

Some videos on the issue. This is with ultra preset, everything max except ssao and uber (I did try it with those, same thing).

Who else is having this issue?
Wow, that's really bad on that third video. Haven't noticed it in my game - at least not as bad as that. Hope you haven't drawn attention to it so that I notice it now... curse you! Heh.

I'll see if it's happening in mine and post back.

My rig:

Core i7 920
EVGA GTX 560 Ti
6 GB RAM
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

*edit* Yep, seeing the same thing here. Using the 275.27 beta drivers, btw.

it was always that way for me. i don't think the patch changed anything in regards to that.

Yeah, it could well have been for me too. I played a bit after installing the patch and didn't notice it. But after just firing up the game and actually looking for it, I see it quite a lot.
I had just finished the game last night so I was pretty familiar with the area. I spent a good amount of time running around making sure I had completed everything I could before moving on to the ending.

The way the foliage, pebbles and other little details fricker and pop-in that is definitely new. My save started in the sewer and it wasn't to noticeable in there... soon as I hit the streets... holy crap. What the hell happened to my game.

Yeah, even with it set to "far" the pop-in in this game is really bad and was always like that for me. I can't believe all the reviews praising the graphics didn't mention it.

If it's new for you then you're experiencing some bug I always had since release, because that is how the game has been since day one for me.

I have more pop in post patch but im also now getting more analising on fences and doors etc.

combined with the flickering/shimmering on grass shadows and trees its made a mockery of my ultra (graphics level) setup.

Im uninstalling and going back to 1.0 (which was working fine for me)

Still need a fix for the flickering/shimmering on grass and trees had that since the beginning.

running gtx 560-ti
q6600 @ 2.7ghz
win xp. dx 9 c
I hope the devs fix this. I regret patching now as the popin is god awful.

Alright, playing just now I did see some pop-in on grass that I did think was worse than before. That plus the lack of depth of field makes me want to uninstall the game and play again with the release day version and see if anything is truly different. I saved the game right in front of some nasty pop-in grass.

If CDP lowered the graphical fidelity for everyone because of some whiners who refused to lower their settings... well, that would be annoying.
I have the same problem, prior to the patch everything ran smoothly, now it feels a little glitchy and I can see some pop in very close to the player.

The pop-in was already pretty afwul pre patch. If it is even worse post patch then CDP embarrassed themselves again (not to mention broken controller support).

What's the point of "draw distance" or some similar stuff in the graphics option if it does not work?

What I don't get is why none of the reviews mentioned it while they were salivating over the graphics. It was pretty obvious to me from the get-go.

Even destructoid didn't mention it?
It should have definitely been mentioned, for me pop-in is very noticeable and very irritating (not to mension immersion-killing)

They probably had really high end systems with room to spare. guessing quad core CPU's and massive 2 GB video cards and 4-8 GB of RAM. From looking at testimonials, I'd also say in an attempt to please lower end systems, they may have pushed it a little to far to get more speed. CDPR is probably optimizing settings for systems and optimizing is often a "trial and error" process. With luck CDPR is watch reports for issues and patch 1.3 will fix much of this. Till then it seems clear if you want top graphics we should stick to the original GOG build. (I'll do patch 1.1 for TT DLC ;-) I don't attach my game/test system to the Internet)

Overall pattern I'm seeing is this:GOG version is better unpatched (but no TT..Sob). retail dvd edition, better with patch. Probably common element: SecuROM #$%#

Using Controller: Patch 1.1 breaks controller use with Witcher 2

Of course some quests may not work properly without the 1.1 patch...so we're all foobarred one way or another LOL

Hardware power is Irrelevant here, as the pop-in is the same even on the highest settings.
I have quad-core, 8gb ram and GeForce GTX560 1GB and I get the same pop-in as everybody else, even on the highest setting.
Incidentally, even on Ultra, the setting "LOD distance" is not set to its highest option! (its on "normal" and I had to manually set it to "far").

Also, my graphics settings were reset after the patch, so those who experience the problem did not set them back to previous values?
