This has probably been mentioned before, but I was amazed by it when I tried it.

The Draug fight in the Eternal Battle can be a real pain to get through. Everyone has their own particular ways, depending on how their Geralt is outfitted. I read somewhere that you could use those Snare traps that you picked up all over the place in Act1 in the Flotsam forest. So I tried that.

When you first face against the smaller Draugir, he will not come towards you until you close the distance to him. Simply lay all your snare traps that you picked up (I had about 50 of them) all around where you are standing at the start of that section. Just keep laying them on top of one another - they don't need to be spread out much. As long as you don't move towards the Dragir, he will just stay where he is until all your traps are laid.

Then go forward and defeat the Draugir, ensuring you battle only in the center of the circle - you don't want him to set off any of your traps. After he is done, the cutscene starts and then you face off against the Draug. Simply run back towards the way you came, up the road a bit - and he will follow you, stepping through all the traps you laid out.

He went down without me even having to unsheathe my sword. LOL.

I put down something like 25 of them and that took him down in a single shot in Dark. It may require even less than that. My favorite strategy, honestly.

Also, on the subject of Eternal Battle tricks: When you're playing as Seltkirk before the Draug, it's possible to, after killing the three people who initially attack you, lure the rest of the people to you one by one. You just have to hold shift to walk and tap W until one comes after you. Makes it much easier for those who don't have riposte since you can move backward and they'll follow you, allowing you to run around and pick them off without the others landing a barrage of attacks on you.

I think it's pretty badass to be able to use up all those otherwise useless snares that I picked up all through Flotsam. Kind of a Middle-Age recycling thing...

Now, if we could just get Geralt to recycle his potion bottles instead of tossing them, this game may even get kudos from the Environmentalist crowd. LOL.

Exactly! The idea that the best weapon in the game is something lying around everywhere in the first chapter is awesome.

It's also possible to kill the Operator with snares. Going to see if the dragon can be killed by laying down snares before climbing up on the tower, next. Snares > swords, honestly.

Update: The dragon apparently can't be killed with snares. You can even set a bunch right on top of the tower and it'll just move over them with no problem. It's possible to use a bunch of them to take out a huge chunk of Letho's life at the end of the game, but that's not a very difficult encounter to begin with. I suspect that it's possible to take out the Operator wannabe guarding the Forgotten vran sword on Iorveth's path with them, but don't have any saves to test that with.

Oh boy, I can just see the next mod for Witcher 2 introducing Silver Snares and Steel Snares :)
