Haha Audrey you are so strategic and meticulous. I don't have the patience to do that. Just dodge and slash for me. For tougher monsters than the queen like the golems later, I did use Yrden, which made the fights insanely easy. I try not to use the traps/yrden and aard because the fights frankly are too easy then.

I'm hoping Witcher 2 will either have mods or CDP can patch the game so that on hard level the combat is difficult enough where I will want to use my signs, traps often.

The thing is if I get hit once I lose most of my health. I have tried traps (snare) but he doesn;t stay trapped long enough for me to do much. I actual saved when he had already spawned, so I can't prepare the field much before fighting him.
quen, roll, hit hard three times, repeat, don't least a point of health in the process. worked on hard, at least.

Patience. So what if you only get a few hits in? Just wait for the next opportunity. This isn't Dragon Age 2 where your character can just leap in the air and cause 3 monsters to explode. Or just hitting the monster with the butt of your sword causing them to become paralyzed.
I thought it really easy. She's vulnerable to, I think, Aard, and has a very limited aggression range. If you take one step out of it, she'll leave you alone.
Well nearly had it beat there... done much better than before. Just timed rolls and used Quen.

BINGO, just step out of her territory and she will leave you alone, regen vigor, use Quen, 2-3 heavy hits, run away, rinse and repeat. Also watch out for her charging attack, that sucks a lot of health, she does this pause and charge prep before she charges, be sure to get out of the way.
I remember now. It is Yrden she's vulnerable too. Which made the limited aggression range frustrating. I'd drop Yrden only to find out that I'm too far away from where she'll attack me.
Yrden works wonders
killed it but how many queens are there? and how many cocoons?
Yes..using the Aard/strong strike combo is easy.

You need to kill 2 queens and get the quest item from their dead bodies. They are both in the same area (forest), unfortunately there are no maps markers, just look for the cocoons and start opening them and killing the contents, the queen will appear then.

Are you sure? I could have sworn that their were 3 sets of 3 cocoons each, hence 3 Queens? But way past that section now, so I can't fully remember!

yep 2 queens. I just killed the 2nd and I completed the quest. LOL I had a much easier time with the 2nd queen. Easy when you know how eh?
OK! Maybe it was 3 Nekker Nests then? I could swear that I had 3 sets of Queen Saliva or pheromones or whatever it is in my inventory? Anyways, glad you got past that part. Good luck with the rest of the mobs?

completed the nekker nest one too. I handed it in and I seem to have obtained a recipe for a
"Witcher's superb silver sword".
