My old character which was created in 1.1 and continued in 1.2 got much worse drop rate after the patch. But with a new character I noticed that the drop rate might be lower as it used to be, but not as bad.

XavierEstrago: How do you roll back patches?
Sorry about the long wait I just tried it this morning and I was succesful BUT you can't run the launcher or it will automatically update!!

Again:

1) Delete your The Witcher 2 game dir and the Patcher_1.2 exe in Downloads(same dir where your gamesaves are under My Documents(depends on your Operating system)
2) Reinstall from the GOG files also the 1.1 patch
3) Only run the game from the Witcher2.exe(not everagain from the launcher) its in the bin dir.
4) Worked for me and good luck.

Thanks for the info. Will this work with the retail physical copy of the game?

Just get the mod Hanns G linked few posts above and keep patch 1.2! It does a lot more good than bad!

RageGT: {Don't know if that will work you will have to interrupt the Launcher from updating and adjust your video choices in the user.ini file; I made a copy of it and then pasted it back}

If all you want to address is the loot drops yea, but if you desire to play the game because of the issues of stat changes and game tweeks then revert to 1.1 (at least for one play thru) which is why I reverted AND I wanted to check out the Brouhaha over the raving mad "I'm a Muslim Thank you CDKP" thread about the stupid insignificant rug in the lower floor of the INN! (If he was a devout muslim he shouldn't have been there anyways -only instilling rage)

O.k. Finished Chapter 1 since 1.2...

I am not a number cruncher; but the drop rate has obviously gone down.

However, it's not that bad, guys. I suppose if you were really unlucky it would suck. What I see, essentially, is that I have a lot less extra to sell. I still pretty much have several of each lesser and at least one of everything else. (No Madness, of course.)

It looks like stacking all Greater types of one kind is not going to be possible. That was frankly unbalanced though, wasn't it? I should still have enough from lesser on up to use all one kind though.

hanns.g: This one may be a little over the top, but would certainly seem to solve the problem. It claims to make the drop rate 100% for any item a mob might drop:

This doesn't work for me. Anyone else successfully using it?
I just finished my run-through on 1.2.

Yes, I think the drops have declined, but it's certainly not a game-changer at all. A bit less to sell. On the upside, I got 2 Madness Mutagens in Act1 this time.

Money's not an issue anyway. If you're short, just arm-wrestle Bargee a few times for 200 Orens each. Adds up.

Have you listened to his mother badgering him? She'd disappear pretty quickly if I were him... It's actually quite hilarious.

...And listen to the town councillor while there as he tells his stories to the kids. Very entertaining and gives some good story background.

Well, if only we could mix and upgrade lesser and normal mutagens into Greater ones. Like 3 lesser to make 1 Normal and then 3 Normal to make 1 Greater. =)

Hanns.g - Are you from Canada? Noticed the "..eh?" at the end of your sentence, LOL.

I spent some time working in Seattle back in the 80's. Everyone knew I was Canadian because I said, "Eh?" a lot. I never even noticed it. I quickly found out how to sound American... I simply substituted "Huh?" for "Eh?" Worked a charm.

boozee: post patch 1.2, 5 drowner kills = 1 drowner brain out of all 5 of them :( nothing else. this is on hard mode.

did all the other 4 drowners not have brains?
I swear that I found a drower that dropped TWO brains for me!
Felt bad for having killed a genious :(

You slash the drowner in many blows with a silver sword, I think the game calculates whether you turned the drowners head into a pulp or not (just not shown in all the gore). So that you cannot pick it up!..

Not to mention you Quen-Electrocute them, burn them, BOMB them, Trap BOMB them, freeze-shatter them...trap its head in a bear trap and MUSH..its a hard, hard world for a drowner's brain to survive after a battle!.

I've noticed a big drop in mutagens since the patch. Prior to patching to 1.2 I had gotten at least 15 greater mutagens(probably closer to 20) during the first act and the first 1/4 of act 2. Since the patch, I've received 2 greater mutagens, and I'm now almost done with act 2.

It's not as if I have been seeing less monsters. I go hunting spawns for ingredients and experience while waiting for night or day or whatever I need to wait for, rather than meditating. I've probably killed more monsters post patch than before the patch.

It is a significant reduction. I had 7 Greater Crits mutagens before I mutated anything. Now I'm hoping and hunting hard to get another one one before my next level up.
