Im an angry Joe follower. For those that don't know what that is google search it.

I've got a few gripes. And i don't want you to think that im looking a gift horse in the mouth.I have been recently made very very attentive to cdprojekts willingness to break the mold that we as gamers can expect from game developers. Its a welcome change. So much in fact i intend to follow this companies developments more closely and catagorize them with my favorites like bethesda.

i digress. The point of this is:

the minimap is still the most worthless POS in this game.I open my map to see where i need to go.I close it and 2 secs later im lost.Open it again and look close at the road i need to follow.I run 50 ft and im fucking lost again.Theres a few things that contribute to this.

1:The minimap spins. And doesnt have any indicator at all of wich direction is what.In an on foot travel game this doesnt work well at all.the only time a spinning minimap works well is in raceing games. After that the only thing this does is disorrient the player.

2:Very often a tracked quest will place a shield with a ! inside it marking a location but when you get there theres nobody there. Its not smart enough to point you to the door they are behind. You just get this mark and dont know if its above or below you and no idea at all how to get there.

3:The minimap doesnt show you doors. So often to leave an area you need to open your mapo find out where the exit is and this completely undermines the minimap.

Combat lets talk combat. You guys have overhauled this to greatness.there is no more endless juggleing,I likey. No more bad targeting,I likey more. And the perks in the combat tree feel more like perks instead of must haves.Like the tough guy perk.It feels more like im building a tank with it rather than a pussy that needs this not to die every 10 feet. This is fun and makes char building feel more personalized rather than a set schedual i need to follow if i want to advance this game,.

Difficulty spikes lets talk spiking the punch.I turned this down to easy because i got frustrated as hell at the laod screens.Even on easy it is not.Oh hell no.You die to a wet fart. And it seems that the monster difficulty is indeed turned down by the difficulty slider but the quick time events are not.

Companion AI is aggravateing to say the least. Why do the feel the need to get inside my pockets?I mean i go over to investigate a barrel of stuffs and 3 dwarves surround me and then i cant move.Trying not to give any spoilers. But this was seriously aggravateing. And when not searching they feel the need to get in front of me wich is even more infuriateing.

I dont want to sound like i don't appreciate this game for what it is.Its a good game.Phenomenal story and well done. Its the in betweens that i feel lacking.Overly hard combat and a craptastic navagation tool hurt bad.But i still see a damned good game here.Im playing it and like it a lot. What we as gamers are craveing tho is that 10/10 game. Its rare as hell and this is not it.But the witcher 3 and this company has it within itself to produce that.

Im an american that falls on deaf ears.Would be nice for a change to find someone that listens.
diffucult quick time events can be turned off in both the PC and the xbox 360 version. There are still QTE but the ones left are much easier. It is the first thing i did cause quick time events annoy me and take me out of the game.

Combat you got to think like a Witcher. Geralt is more like Captain America/Batman than Superman ability wise so he has to depend more on his cunning and tactical abilities. (I actually think this game in a sense does a better job of being what combat should be like than Batman Arkham City- Batman isn't just a kick ass martial artist but a great planner and I think would use more hit and run tactics rather than consistently attacking) Charged in and you w ill die make a mistake and you may die. Don't underestimate any enemy in the game. Pay attention to the story, books and and the environment, usually clues of what kind foe you will be fighting thus how to prepare. Also, there is nothing wrong with playing the game on easy. Also, remember the enemies don't act like they do in movies or most video games, they gang up on you. I have died multiple times so far but I think just about every time it was my own fault for not being ready or underestimating the challenge. The controls at times may be a bit flawed but if you're well prepared they shouldn't be an issue. (i'm still on the first chapter though) EDIT: the combat is getting slightly annoying at points to me as well. LIke at the begining of chapter two. no chance to meditate and very limited time to save before a fight with all the dialogue beforehand.

The minimap is horrible though and the first game from what I remember did a much better job.

What we need now is an "enhanced" Enhanced Witcher 2.

Well that explains it.
Learn to play a video game.
5claw5, your criticism is all valid. TW2 is a great game but suffers from a bad UI overall and has some frustrating control designs. Unfortunately CDProjekt now consider TW2 EE to be the most polished and they're not planning to revisit it soon.

It's still a great game, but a LOT of things could be improved UI wise if TW3 is ever made.

@Vagabond: you're an immature child. Learn to be civil or stay out of forums. Your comment is uncalled for.
All the complain about minimap. I'm sure it was slight confusing but it's not that hard to familiarize with it. Not many game included door in their minimap. Afterall, Witcher 2 world is not really open and huge, so you won't get lost. Difficulty spike, yeah it's quite difficult at the beginning. But this has much to do with your sub par gears and weapon at the beginning. Things will get better after you acquired decent gears. Go grind some money and nekkar.
" Combat lets talk combat. You guys have overhauled this to greatness.there is no more endless juggleing,I likey. No more bad targeting"

Serious? Because the combat seems exactly the same to me. Care to explain what exactly "new" they did to the combat and targeting system? (just saying "targeting isnt bad anymore" doesnt suffice)

I'm actually a bit disappointed they didn't give you the option to manually switch between locked on targets (a feature they included in the 360 version). It would be really easy to just set the scroll wheel to switch between targets of your choice; with the current targeting system its still hard to target enemies that are behind other enemies.

Maybe they fear of backlash from the fans. You see, scrolling between locked target is well known as controller / console friendly feature. It make any game easier with that function.
I agree wholeheartedly about the abomination that is the minimap, and the occasional but extreme frustration that is getting blocked by friendly AIs - most notably those dumb dwarves. There was a mod to put a north arrow on the minimap, which turned it from totally useless to fairly helpful, but I wot not if it works with EE; if not, with any luck, someone will update it. And hopefully CDPR will release a mod toolset soon, and hopefully someone will then make it possible to give friendly AIs a good shove.
I agree with OP on all three numbered complains.

As far as the minimap go, for those that didnæt understand: I believe he meant NOT that the minimap should show doors, but that it should POINT to the door/exit when you are inside a cave/building/etc. and your next target is outside.

Other than that, I don't think the minimap is too bad.
I think the minimap could be improved also. As for combat it can be improved, the dynamics just don't seem like they flow that well. Attacking one enemy and then trying to switch to another attacker just does not feel fluid. Feels clunky.

I find the menu layout not necessarily confusing but very busy looking. I find crafting a bit odd, I have all these recipes and I was trying to find a way to write them down in some sort of book, however it seems you need to keep every crafting recipe you get. This seems sort of absurd, maybe I'm wrong on this.

As for how hard the game is I don't find it that hard once you get use to the fact this is the Witcher not Dragon Age. When I first played I was only using one sigh and dying a lot.

Once I started using all my signs and some potions the game became a lot easier. Though I am playing on normal so I cant speak for the harder difficulties.

One other thing I find annoying is the save system in the Witcher 2, I dont mind that it autosaves all the time but I would be nice to name a save as my own. For example it would be nice to click make new save and name it as your name or something like that. Also It would be nice to delete saves somehow quicker then what you can at the moment. Going through the game and having a shit load of saves is annoying and takes forever to clean up.

I still think this is one of the best games that has come out in a long time. However as sear and others have mentioned all these little inconsistency's in my opinion make the Witcher 2 a 9.0 rather then somewhat closer to a perfect 10.

Agreed the minimap is not that useful. Fortunately, it's not needed.

I really do not understand the part about combat difficulty. I'm a 64-year old man, and never had great eye-hand coordination to begin with, but I play on Dark mode and do not find combat generally difficult. Some fights are purposely more difficult, the first one being the fight with Letho toward the end of the Flotsam chapter. it's a great fight -- EPIC even, on Dark mode; and it's that sort of fight that gives the game some replayability. If combat were any easier, the game would not be much fun, especially the second and subsequent times through it. Just learn the fights and keep improving. It's a great combat system and well implemented. I hope it stays that way for Witcher 3.

Yes, the dwarves in the mine were annoying. I really wanted to kill them, but couldn't. That's about the only spot where companions were an issue, though. With a little practice, you can learn to stay away from them.
