My computer has two drives on it - 32gb SSD and a 1tb normal HDD. I only use the SSD for my operating system, everything else goes in to the D drive. Unfortunately, The Witcher 2 automatically places its save games into My Documents on the C drive, and it's really eating up space fast. I don't see an option to change the default save folder, is this possible?

You can create a symbolic link on NTFS filesystem

Copy the "Witcher 2" directory from "C:\Users\username\Documents" to D drive
Delete "Witcher 2" directory from "C:\Users\username\Documents"
Open command prompt and cd to "C:\Users\username\Documents"
type this command:
mklink /D "Witcher 2" "D:\Witcher 2"

I had no idea this was possible...It's a very elegant solution.

I actually had the opposite yet same problem. I have Windows on my SSD with the My Documents folder on a different drive. I wanted to put the save games on the SSD for faster loading/saving.

I'm curious to know if you setup your SSD "properly" or just purposely kept the "My Documets" folder on it. Setting it up properly will allow you to save a lot of space by moving a lot of folders to a more spacious (yet slower) drive and even make the drive faster overall.

Some guides are more in-depth than others, but this is the one I used since it is straight and to the point. Read the whole thread before you start though. Discussion takes place that may make you change your mind about certain parts of it.

This is exactly what I did (well, actually I moved my whole 'Users' folder to a different drive) and would recommend it to anyone that has a small SSD for their OS. I don't find loading/saving times an issue.

Oh yes. My Games folder/drive is simlinked onto a massive HDD from my Programs folder.

I am noticing that the load/save times aren't much different and my SSDs are 6GB/s drives in Raid0. So I guess it is a good idea to keep it on a larger disk even if it is slower.

Are they really worth it (SSD's) In practics what is faster? application wise......What if I just make a ramdisk in memory to upgrade my 6 gb ram to 12 it is cheaper ..no?? Raid 0 for 2 SSD'd seems impraticle...What's the advantage? signed an Enquiring mind!!

The reason I decided the path I did was because the two drives were somewhat cheap on Craigslist. I spent $220 on 2 64GB SATA3 drives rather than the $260 it would have cost for a single 120. Plus the RAID 0 is faster however slight, so I went with it. The main reason I went with the RAID0 is because I didn't want "lost" space due to one drive having only like 3 gigs left. So I combined them. I can't comment on an my SSD setup in a non-Raid0 setup because it has never existed as so for me. I can tell you (warning: much bragging about to come lol):

From the time I see the Windows spalsh screen to a FULLY loaded desktop it's only 22ish seconds.

From the time I click "Reboot" to the time the desktop is once again fully loaded is under a minute (never actually timed that one, but shutting down is ~10 seconds)

Windows rates the primary disc at 7.9 (max).

I don't have the second Witcher game yet. Still working on the first. But I can say that with everything maxxed except for AA I can load into the swamp where the lightning pillars are in about 9.5 seconds.

These SSD's are by FAR the best upgrade I have ever given my system. Sure a lot of is has to do with the other parts being fast, but on a part for part basis, this is when I had the biggest performance boost.

As far as just loading it into your memory, you can do that. I was looking into eboostr after I already had my SSDs and I didn't notice any difference. I can't comment on the actual application usefulness because of that. I would have to say though that it seems you would have the same load times for windows, but shut down faster. As well, your games would start at teh same speed, maybe shave a second or two off of the first time you relaly load in, and then be overall quicker as you go. The cost of 6GB more on the ram would probably net you a 64GB SATA3 drive, which you can use as your primary windows drive and have it be RIDICULOUSLY faster, while eBoostr (or something similar) uses it the same way you were going to use the memory for your games and such. You can even install a game or two on it to get the true benefit.

Excuse me, I've changed folder as explained up but, since I've done, the Launcher doesn't work. There is a solution for this problem?

i have the same problem and i did do the same what he did told
he did created a symbolic link for witcher 3 ( in my case its 3) but when i open the game he starts all over
and makes a new map again in C Documents did you find a solution ?
