Hi.

I´m getting used to the new style of combat so there are many things that I don´t know if are not possible or just I don´t know how to do them.

One of them is if Geralt just have to roll all the time when retreating and stop seeing his oponents?

Hope it´s clear, english is not my native lenguage.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I don't think he can, and you should make sure that when you roll away you're doing it at the right time because getting hit on the back lands you a blow at 200% damage.

PS: There's a skill in the sword tree that reduces the damage taken on the back to 100% if talented at 2/2

Geralt does NOT walk backwards, strafe left, nor strafe right in TW2.
I hope one day we get that ability. I am not playing with a gamepad in my hand, so I'd like to fight like a real swordmaster and not like a catwoman. (intended for gamepads)

I found that the best thing to do to avoid the back stab 200% was roll back roll left roll forward (right if you cant go left) once i got this down i found fighting much easyer in both normal and then for my second play in hard. also getting you sword swing clicks is important and also using quin sign ( the shield one ...sorry if i spelt it wrong)

Doesn't seem to me like that decision has ANYTHING to do with your so called assumptions of "consolisation". Oblivion on both the PS3 and 360 allowed you to walk backwards and was a copy of the PC's control scheme (albeit slower due to analog sticks). So no, your statement is coming off as that of a typical fanboy on a witch hunt. The decision to stop you from walking backwards seems to stem off from their wish to make the game more fast paced in combat making you roll more often and run constantly (while keeping your camera centered on the enemy).

It seems like they wanted to close the gap between what you had seen in the first cutscene from the witcher 1 (Super fast superhuman mutant monster hunter using sword techniques, jumping around etc.) and the actual combat gameplay which was fairly slow paced.
Oh yeah, I understand you very well.

Unfortunately he can't anymore. He could in TW but not now. And he can't sidestep either.

It is the main thing that hampers the combat because you can't evade attacks and still face your opponents so you are forced to do this silly running and rolling around. This limitation is obviously noticeable even in combat videos.
Moving Geralt around is also somewhat awkward because of this.

IMO CDP has to consider fixing this.
