So first playthrough i used mouse and keyboard. Everything was fine other than the terrible inventory and interface.

Read a lot of good opinions on using the Xbox gamepad so im giving it a try and finding the camera movement wierd.

Compared to games like Batman:Arkham Asylum were the camera auto moves to follow you when you turn using a gamepad, i'm finding it very awkward as TW2's camera doesnt do that when using a gamepad were i would expect it would/should do that.

Is it supposed to auto-position so it stays behind you? Or is it just meant to be awkward like this?

Was hoping i was bugged.

It's really not a bad/different system than other games. I'm a huge console gamer and could not feel any difference playing Witcher 2. Some games have their camera set to 'auto-follow', some do not. No biggie for me.

this is why I usually prefer mouse. If they ever support logitech controllers though I'll try it out.

Perhaps I'm missing something here but isn't the camera control the same with a pad as it is with the mouse?

Well I too have played alot with consoles in my time. And it's pretty much normal control scheme. It could go faster in looking up/down imo but sideways it feels fine when I adjust mousespeed faster. Which seems to affect controller also. What I have tried the game, it really feels better with controller. Well, I could go test the mouse and change my opinion. =)

Edit: Infact the mousesensitivity doesnt affect controller. just tried it again, so it was in my imagination.

Playing with the gamepad felt very natural to me (and obviously more natural than WASD for a leftie..) and I never noticed the targeting problems (and didn't use the lock-on feature) that troubled people, which I then assumed to be a mouse+kb problem.

A matter of preference I suppose - I'm either used to a non-auto-positioning camera or play so few games with a gamepad that I've never come to have a strong preference yet.

Tried just with board and mouse again. It really should be an option to choose any key for binding, well maybe not esc.. Controls could be good if that was the case, I mean good for the lefties also which I am.
As said, controller works fine. Don't even need to config those buttons.
But, when using mouse in quickmenu it's superior to controller. And indeed looking around is much easier with mouse. (so I kinda changed my mind)
So, in conclusion.. both controls has a few flaws and both also have good sides.
But it should be better for both.
There should be more settings for both methods.

Guess its preference.

Well batman was batman. It didn't even cross my mind to play that with mouse. And I still prefer the controller in this game.. controls are pretty much the same as in batman or in any third person thing. Just wish that the spellwheel worked better. And mostly.. where did my targetingsystem disappear.

And it's always about preference.
