i do not like how blocking was handled. right now its my only gripe
this makes a huge difference in the game.
right now instead of finessing a fight to your favour by playing the way they developed. most players, attack, roll away then roll back and attack again doing the same thing over and over.
why because blocking is near useless. you give up the use of signs to block... well signs are more useful then blocking.
now i know that no one wants an Assassins creed system where you block then instantly kill the other person using a counter.
counters should be hard to pull off. maybe if that used the vigour system instead i would be more happy but then the block would last forever.
most of you will then say "but blocking is not fun, just holing a button takes away most of the skill in the swordplay" maybe you are right. but then again who said that the system has to be you holding a button? what if it was reaction based?
you tap the defend button when an attack comes in. and then you can counter using some vigour if you are able to react fast enough
this wold add a new finesse to the game.
they can even allow you to chain block into your fight pattern when taking on multiple enemies but only if you do it right.
it would look cool and make it more enjoyable you may even take more risks. it does not make other aspects of the game useless.
think of it like this. 5 enemies, you can use the old system of slowly picking them off whole retreating or using traps and bombs.
but then you can attack, attack block leading into the third attack/ counter attack and then block again when done.
now you may think this is easier but think about it. that's some complex work there. you are attacking and defending, that those 4 attacks took 6-7 button presses (7 for counter 6 for only blocks). it would be hard to be able to chain those together perfectly.
possible but hard. something that would make me happy.
and note you dont have to just attack to block you can still block outside but you still have to line up the blocks with the incoming attacks
this would open up many new ways to take on enemies.
the stinger, when you defend then move out to take a jab slowly taking them out
the master, go in using complex button combos to come out nearly unscathed from a massive battle (only the best dare try)
the cautious, attack then defend rinse and repeat.
what d you guys think.. good bad any negatives to my idea? i know it wont happen but there is always a chance that you guys will find my idea interesting.
in combat i seriously believe that defence would make it more enjoyable. the way its done it just does not feel like you have much sword defence options and i dont see why it is vigour based
feel free to comment, expand my idea or shoot it right down
