I guess there a few people like me wondering if their machines can handle the game (hopefully they do!) ;) I thought I could start a topic like that.

My specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz
RAM 4GB
ATI HD 4850 with 515MB.

Anyone playing the game on the similar machine? Is that possible to play it or I just need to have a sit, drink and cry ;)

P.S. BTW I was able to play Crisis 2 on ultra-high settings. And I do hope that means there's a chance for me to play TW2 preferably on medium settings.

Your specs seem ok. Some people have noted problems with ati cards tho, but there have been a few posts about fixes for those cards.

God bless you for that! ;) I'll be grateful for being able to play it even on low-medium settings.

Better card would be the best solution obviously but I have an iMac so no upgrades on the way I'm afraid.

You left out the most important part (as almost everyone does): the resolution.

There's a slight difference in the amount of pixels between 800x600 and 2560x1600 for example.

But since you played Crysis 2 on ultra-high, you're either on a low resolution, or enjoy torturing yourself :)

I've got a similar system

4g RAM

You'll be able to run it on Ultra with LOD Distance and Texture Memory Size reduced 1 setting and still get 30-40FPS indoors and 25-30FPS outdoors. If you want a more consistent and smooth experience your system will run it on high settings at 40-60FPS in all areas.

EDIT: I'm running it on a crappy res (1024 by 1280), so take off 10FPS from my predictions.

Hehehe ;) The native resolution is 2560x1600. But I guess I can lower it to make the game run faster. Or all my hope is lost now? ;)

* It's possible I lied and I played Crysis 2 only on high settings but I remember I was trying to set extremely high and was actually surprised with the results. OMG! Great! Thx a lot.

Not a super high end rig. Everything is 2007 vintage except for the GPU. But I've got all the settings at maximum except for:
SSAO (I've always found this not worth the performance hit)
Ubersampling (Definitely only for high end rigs)

Probably the biggest thing that helps my performance is the fact that I've got Anti-Aliasing turned off. Instead, I'm using ATI's Morphological Anti-Aliasing setting, which basically gives you 4x AA at no performance cost.

I've got silky smooth framerates. The game looks stunning. I don't have an exact FPS counter, but it's at least 30fps I'd say. I'm more than happy with the engine that the game's running on. It also plays nice with Alt-Tab which is always a bonus.

If you have an ATI card I think you are meant to set AA and Anisotropic filtering to application controlled in Catalyst control center.

My new 580GTX is meant to arrive today - they only have a few more hours to deliver Argh.

Config utlity reckons I've got 2.3GB of video memory, but that must be taking shared memory into consideration. It also recommends the lowest setting for everything.

Instead, I turned everything up full except ubersampling and turned off blur and motion blur (they make me sick).

Runs like an absolute dream - probably better than the original title does. Puzzling.

Must be an incredibly optimised engine. The graphics are not exactly the highest fidelity like everyone is saying, but it does look blisteringly stunning in some places. Excellent use of lighting, some brilliant character models (especially the female ones, hmmm...) and fabulously lucious vegetation (my favourite part). The animations are hit and miss and can be horribly wooden, but when they hit you'd be forgiven for thinking you were watching a film, especially with depth of field.

My pc is almost the same, you will cry with 15fps and stuttering and lagging.. With all settings disabled( mean the game will look much worse than witcher 1 )

I'm happier and happier with every reply! My 512MB video card is my greatest worry. In a bout 2 hrs I will be able to give TW2 a try. Finally!

I can run the game perfect at my native res on Medium, going to try the other resolutions, and higher settings after lunch. But as some people have said, their seems to be some performance issues when using ATI cards. Though I have read that if you try running in windowed mode it should perform better.

On ultra I was only getting low 30's @ 1600x900 (my Monitors 1920x1200) Not playable for me stutter like heck.

I only OC my GPU and CPU cards moderately GPU mem is at 2000Mhz so I'm thinking Ultima all the way is going to need SLI. to get 60 FPS.

Your computer is very similar to mine, so I've got my fingers crossed. The processor is the main difference - same speed as my AMD, same number of cores but equiv AMD CPUs run at slower speeds. That'd be my main worry. But really, if mine can do it then I'd hope you at least get to around medium.

Should probably have added to my specs that I'm playing with DDR 1333 RAM and I believe my card has DDR5 memory. Probably allows me to play with the highest textures.

With the ATI cards, what I find is that if you're not too bothered about shadows and you're having problems then try setting them to lower before messing about with the other settings. If a game is being picky with my graphics card I can usually claw back 15-20fps by getting rid of shadows.

Let us know how you get on. If you're having troubles I reckon lowering shadows and downscaling the textures will work and keep most of the eyecandy turned on. The great lighting/depth is what does it for me.
