What was the error?
Yeah, I installed the hotfix and then...

The options in the main menu are MENUNEW, MENULOAD, MENUEXIT.
When dialogues start, the active character stares at the other, then the other character which was supposed to speak stares at the other character.

This patch screwed things up totally. (I installed it for the box Polish version).

Something with the patching process went wrong - the patch itself is fine. Maybe you accidentally downloaded the Japanese version of the patch? It isn't marked as that on the download page.

Try running the (correct) patch again. If it doesn't help, I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall the game.

That's pretty bad. Maybe try the full 1.0 to 1.35 patch to see if that fixes things.
Nah, it turns out I can't read. Or something in the description of the patches is not so clear.

There are two patches 1.3 -> 1.35 on the WItcher 2 site, I downloaded and installed the wrong one. It seems that the one I installed was for the Japanese version (not that it's described anywhere...)

I think it's messed up, as the icon doesn't say it's Japanese, yet the file name has JP in it.

The multilanguage one is the first 1.3-1.35 on the bottom left, and it's about twice the size at 72 MB.

The tool tip of the sword read something like "MAHAKAN RUNE IMPORT SWORD 1234" or soemthing silly like that.

I think I know why I missed that: I played through the game with version 1.0 (and later upgraded to 1.1 while still on the same run), so the Mahakan Rune Sihil never got imported. My second playthrough with v1.3 started just a day ago and I hadn't yet checked the tooltipp. ^^

Thanks for the information.
