A lot of this is ridiculous Master Race bickering. Take an actual console port, Assassin's Creed 2. Not only is that a fantastic game in all regards, the PC port allows you to change controls in-game and change graphical settings in-game. By the logic of the children in this thread, that means it was never on console because if it was designed with consoles in mind, it wouldn't have those options.

Many action games, even adventure games where you spend a lot of time walking around, are more pleasant to use a control pad with. Control pads are designed 100% to play games on, the mouse and keyboard is a compromise. They're designed for office applications as that was the original purpose of PCs. Games use them simply because that's what came with them. Yes, it just so happens that RTS and FPS are far easier to control with a mouse, but all other genres are either equal or better with a control pad.

There's nothing hardcore and mature about a game using a mouse and keyboard, which seems to be the bizarre delusion the Master Race are operating under in this thread. All those shitty flash games and Facebook games use a mouse and keyboard - go and play those if you want a "true PC exclusive experience" that uses a good old hardcore PC setup.

All I can say is if you playing Witcher 2 as if there is a pit of death running around with a horde chasing after you trying to regenerate heath, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG. LEARN TO PLAY. Can't be any clearer than that.

mastorofpuppetz: This is pathetic, PC gamers are the whiniest bunch I have ever seen. every game no matter if its true or not gets labelled as a CONSOLE game, there is not even a console version of this game yet. This is one of the most PC centric games tha has been released in many years, i swear some of you will complain a game is terrrible if the font is not PC enough, get a life and enjoy this amazing game and rare breed, a PC RPG clearly designed for PC. Nothing about this game is anything like a console game, how many console games have you played? They are notr like this game I can tell you that.

hulahula32: Edit: after reading some more of this thread you are right. Some of the posters here are the whiniest bunch of pc gamers. This is sad.

Naw, it's just cloud8521. Most people I've talked to agree. Witcher 2 is uncompromised and defnitely is an example of what PC Gaming can be. We do agree some of the control mechanisms seem to be console/controller friendly.

But the graphics, the combat, the quests, the plot, it's all without compromises I think. cloud8521 just needs something to complain about since because if he doesn't like it, then it's consolitis.
hey screw off, im not complaining at all, i just expected better from a PC dev who made a great interface. i fucking love the game and you fucking dont want to hear criticisms because you think that that means that the game is bad. oh but whats this? someone said something? oh you best go fucking set them straight, cant have them saying they would like something changed, i gotta poke my nose into everything because my opinion is more important then anyone else. go the fuck away if you are going to continue like that. i listen to what everyone says, but you know what. i have not even heard any good reason why the UI is good from your side, the only thing you all have to say is "PSHH they are whiny LOLZ, its good because i have no reason besides it was given to me that way "

learn the difference between constructive criticism and whining.

I have noticed alot of the trolling fanboys go out of there way to every website to whine at critiism. The CPR Defense force is in full swing as its the same people here that are website hopping.

It makes you wonder if fanboys love the game so much why arent they, you know, playing it instead of showing up at every review or fourm to troll?

ive actually seen this happen in many games, they ignore everything someone says. it also happened with brink recently, but its happened with a lot of games that flat our failed too. they also usually like to go around to reviews, then post them up on the site, if its bad they say the person is stupid. even tho reviews are opinion pieces. but if it gives a good mark no matter what it says its suddenly "a great reveiw".

personally there is no great review just a bunch of opinions.

Where to start ?

well bugger it,most every word is dripping with ignorance and non sensical dribble that seems to use a godlike essence to think you know what everyone is thinking and wanting.

the only salient point is that assassins creed made a good port from console to pc,but thats only one game, yet you wnt to use its success to shove nonsense down everyones throat ?

how does the saying go ? "opinions are like arseholes etc etc "

thereare 100`s of thousands of people who can see the difference between a pc and console game and its gameplay, try and tell them they are all wrong and you look a fool.

compare to console, PC should be a more free and mature platform for gamers. I hate it when 5-year-old console kids playing MW2 and singing with voice chat. Games like witcher2 should be enjoyed on PC

hate voice chat in MMO games, its always morons with a god complex who "know everything" and scream it into a mic all the time or teens screaming swear words "cos they can" or idiots thinking its a way to release frustrations and life whines all day.

I dont play any MMO`s anymore due to this, they all demand you use voice chat just to do the above..lol

Even funnier is when fanboy trolls go onto a good review, i mean one that praises the game and ignores the actual review and just whines that 9/10 isnt enough and starts cursing because they think the game deserves 9.5 or 10 outright.

ArnoldJ.Rimmer: ~Irony~
Learn to type and convey your points before trying to call people ignorant or say they're being "non sensical" (not a word, by the way). Rather than simply being a pompous, reactionary idiot like your namesake from Red Dwarf, why not actually say what points of mine are incorrect and why? Let's see...

It's true that many console ports offer key binding setup and graphics options in-game, many console games on their console of origin also offer controller setup. It's also true that some PC-only games do not, such as League of Legends, a game that incredibly "PC-ish" in its genre and origins and yet offers no graphical options whatsoever, in-game or otherwise. If I remember correctly, it also offers not a single key binding option. It's also true that control pads were designed purely for playing games whereas keyboards and mice were not, and were simply adapted as the standard control scheme since all PCs had them as standard. Genres such as RTS and FPS have largely developed a need for them (in the case of RTS, this is purely down to hoykeys since the games can essentially be played with just two buttons) but most other genres have no advantage when using tools originally designed to be used in office applications such as word processor programs.

It's also true that there are an enormous amount of casual games on the PC that make the consoles seem like a bastion of intellectualism by comparison. Indeed, this is the only area of the PC gaming market that is growing year by year; the vast majority of PC games are actually casual flash games and other such things that make the Wii's array of shovelware seem like a gallery of masterpieces. Trying to create a scenario where "All people that play games on PC are mature adults" compared to "All people that play games on a console are moronic children" is ridiculous when you realise that the really popular PC games now are crap like Farmville (and many of the only good games you now get are also on consoles), and many similar games to Farmville, or just the many generic flash browser games are played by far more PC gamers than genuinely good ones like TW2 and the many games on this site. To restate this point, the "proper game" market on the PC is shrinking each year, the casual game market is growing. What does that say about the glorious Master Race of PC gamers?

Oh, but you guys like to pretend they're not PC gamers because they're little kids or "idiots", whereas the equivalent portion of the console owning market (a far larger and more varied market when you look at the games that make the top 10) are of course fully representative of console gamers.

Where the **** is the console version? Oh right, it doesn't exist. It might in a few years.

Controller support > ZOMFG CONSOLISED

They make a lenghty high quality PC exclusive, best looking RPG, one of the best looking games ever, unaffected by dumbing down and appealing to casual gamers, and still PC gamers bitch.

Why do they even try. Go plough yourself, your embarrassing us.
