soldiergeralt: decent(custom) control scheme is coming in a patch next week, i don't know why people are still whining about that. furthermore, it's already possible to customize controls through ini files, but i guess that's too much to expect from the idiots complaining about their lack of dexterity on the keyboard.

there are valid complains about the game, however crying about controls? you've just proven you're not a real pc gamer. go back to laying shitty games with simple control scheme so you don't feel left out.
It is mean spirited in the extreme to call a 65 year old gamer an idiot because he has the beginning of arthritis in his fingers and can'e mash a button as long as he used to.
Although i agree with the "feeling" of consolized menu's it doesn't bother me one bit, and i know, when asked by the community (or modded) the developers will adjust this and bring out a better U.I, like they did in the witcher 1.

Personally it don't really care, i play this with an xbox360 controller, not because the mouse and keyboard is infiriour (it aint), but because i can relax more while playing this stretched out in my chair. :p

I love it that everybody's ranting about console ui and mechanics, while there isn't even a console version released. I don't even mind them porting it to consoles, they can even make more money out of it and make an ever greater sequal.

Important: As long as the order of game development is like this: PC version first (most powerfull system) -> dumbin it down so it can work on consoles, i don't care one bit.

Although the initial sales of the witcher 2 look very good, you can't blame any developer for wanting to make their games for as much people as possible , especially in these days of hardcore pirating. Just because a "few" (relatively speaking) pc gamers support developers who make quality content for pc (like me) , doesn't mean there won't be MASSIVE pirating as well. ( I checked Warez BB & thepiratebay , and the witcher 2 is getting pirated very well).

Turning the tide for future pc gaming epicness will take more then one faithfull developer and a small decrease in pirating... unfortunatly.

mjharper: The number of consoles an RPG is released on has no significant relation to the incidence of the claim that console gaming has ruined it.
its not the number of consoles, its the number of sales thats the problem.

if a game is "console based" on a pc,many pc gamers wont buy.

this then appears to publishers that pc is not the way to go,they dont think its because pc gamers dont want console games, they think its console games selling better than pc games...a sort of catch 22.

I have not been near a console since my megadrive years n years ago,not through hate, but because console games are simply too...errr sheer button mashingly boring as hell.

i think this is where the problem of console vs pc comes from.

TigerLord: I've noticed a trend. There are two crowds.

1. The "TW2's developement suffered from console design influence" group
2. The "people of first group are pathetic/stupid/losers/[insert childish insult here]" group

There have been a lot of solid arguments to support the hypothesis that The Witcher 2's development was heavily influenced by a console's requirements as far as control and interface designs are concerned.

Yet, all the people who oppose this idea did so not by refuting the arguments presented in an intelligent manner, but instead opted for the childish and immature approach of personally attacking posters or the group in general.

If you don't agree that the controls are sub-par or that the interface blatantly sucks, present your own arguments. If you lack the intellectual capacities to form cohesive and coherent arguments, then simply shut the fuck up, for your behavior only serves to demonstrate your stupidity instead of defending CPR's honor like you think you're doing.
No need to feed the trolls. They relish the opportunity to gobble up whatever bone you toss them.

That wasn't what I was getting at.

For example, the Dragon Age 2 forums have numerous threads complaining that the game has been dumbed down because of consoles. Has Dragon Age 2 been released on consoles? Yes: XBOX and PS3.

Here, we have numerous threads complaining that The Witcher 2 has been dumbed down because of consoles. Has The Witcher 2 been released on consoles? No.

Haters gonna hate. People obsessed with the negative effect of console gaming gonna be obsessed with the negative effect of console gaming.

he s right the paranoia, whining from PC gamers about every game being consolized is moronic. OH NO< THE GAME WORKS WITH A GAMEPAD. LMAO, most people have HDTV's and a lot like being able to lie on the couch, and play a PC game in 1080p, thats what makes PC great, versatlity.

This is the most PC centric game released in sojme, time, you guys are just looking for things to whine about.
PC gaming is great, worst thing about it are PC gamers, this thread is proof of that. Devs must think why make games for a crowd that is impossible to make happy? How many devs are making games for PC like CD project, almost no one,

I bet people like you whine about the free DLC they will be giving us as well.

psssst..you just might wanna reread that bit in bold, kinda gives it away that you are trolling, which is by far a greater crime than having a few issues with pc games being consolised more and more.
Meh. We could use game pads on games back in the 80's and 90's. There was this thing on PC's called a MIDI port, which also doubled as a game controller port(later replaced by usb). Personally consolization comes down to a few factors, game pad's nah. Health regeneration/armor regen is probably the biggest one. Hand holding on quests, achievements(aka YOU BREATH congrats!), poorly constructed story/dialog/etc. Massive repeating of environments. Ah yes, the chaotic universe, however every building looks the same, like someone took a giant cookie cutter and went *plink, plink, plink*. And so on.

But whatever, I grew up in the age of gaming where there wasn't handholding.

Im trolling because I disagree with your PC elitest Whining? LMAO, again, barely anyone is making PC only games Cd project is still making games centered around PC, yet your complaining its a console port, yet no console version even exists? Might want to look in the mirror before calling others a troll.

Doesnt even make sense, if it was a console port it would not be released way before on PC. it doesnt work that way.

gamepads on PC games is as old as PC gaming, GASP. Doesnt make a game a console port, thats the beauty of PC gaming, its versatile. Shouldn't you know that ole PC exalted one?

nope..you are actually trolling for some wierd reason i dont understand,

as you clearly to this point still have not read what i and others typed,

you made yourself evident as a troll because if you do actually read it all,its evident there WAS NO WHINING,and nobody said its a console port, because everyone else but you apparently, knows it was developed as a pc game with a few parts made "console friendly" just in case of a pc to console port.

so yes,you are a troll, sorry but if you act and quack like a dick...i mean duck, people will se you as a duck ;)

you leapt in frothing and ranting without reading anything...a troll

No but QT events and "pits of death" do.

Indeed. Some of my most favorite PC games I used a game pad on. Those being Xwing, Xwing vs Tie, etc, and freespace/freespace2. Mostly because a joystick was out of my budget back then($24 for a gamepad, and $125 for a joystick). Oh and I can't forget subspace. Can't tell you how many gamepads I wore out playing that game. Or how many times I cracked open the gamepad to resoldier the broken connections because well I was hard on the hardware.
