So, I went from 1.2 to 1.3 patch (gog version) from here:

Now, I no longer have 'launcher.exe', and cant launch the game at all.

Can't launched witcher.exe, or can't launch via the Launcher?

Anyway, reinstalling would probably fix all that.

There is no 'witcher.exe', nor is there a 'launcher.exe' now.

Worked for me.

I'd suggest doing a reinstall, and don't reinstall under Program Files or Program Files (x86). These folders are subject to virtualization, which creates uncertainty as to where the files actually end up and whether they're visible on your account.

Well, I AM installed to program files (x86).
But, patch 1.1 and 1.2 had 0 issues.
And, I have UAC turned off.

Guess a re-install is my only option.
Sigh.

[ seriousness] Funny thing, I NEVER had any problems with TW2, guess I'm a lucky bastard. My spec:

AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor
Radeon HD 6800 Series
4 GB RAM
Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 Motherboard

Buy this rig( I gave 600$ for brand new) and TW2 will run butter smooth

Sounds like antivirus issue to me. Files don't vanish by themselves and patch doesn't delete files which allow the game to run. Something must have moved or deleted them.

Uninstalling TW1 broke my TW2 launcher and my insane saves. While reinstalling TW2 (because the Configurator doesn't work anymore) it didn't work the first time. So I removed the corrupted installation again and re-installed the second time, without changing anything.

And it worked. Weird. Patching from 1.2 to 1.3 has been without a hitch, and I've installed to Program Files (x86).

Sometimes it does depend on luck I guess.

Well, you were right.
I just checked my history, and sure enough, even the patch 1.3 installer was partially blocked, and both exe's quarentined.
Sigh.

BTW. Could you tell me when(if) you plan to give us some info about TW2 overal sales? I heard something about Optimus' half- year summary or something.

You should teach your antivirus program to ask you before quarantining or deleting anything. I have Win7 and no such problems. I also have an extra folder 'Games' next to 'Program Files' (an old habit even before the modern OS, just to keep it tidy).

It's okay to bring up an issue, only to have it turn out to be a problem on your end - we can all have a respectful laugh then, and all you risk is feeling a bit sheepish - but I wish people would stop swearing and cussing CDPR out the instant something goes wrong. Instead, bring up the issue in a calm, adult (it's 18+ after all) manner, and take it from there. We're all willing to help out. Heck, Andrzej himself was very quick to respond to your problem, despite the rude attitude.
