I pre-ordered the Witcher 2, and bought it day of release... but I've just installed the game today, and I assume that it patched my game to 1.2. I read that the patch includes all of the DLC, so I thought nothing of it when it didn't show up even after I registered the game (yes, I typed in all capital letters for my key). I also read that the items don't show up until after the prologue, I continued onto Chapter 1. However, I did not see the jacket in my inventory, though supposedly it should just show up. Also at the job board, I was told when taking the Troll quest that I had to register (which I did).

So, I registered... and nothing. I downloaded the DLC executables, and ran them manually. Still nothing - no quest log, no jacket, no boots, etc. I did some more digging and found that there's some registry edits I could do, as posted by a employee (can't find the link again... maybe later). Nothing. So... yeah, what can I do to get my DLC working?

You have registry issues I suspect. What seems to work without fail is:

1. Uninstall the game
2. Manually remove any file directories related to witcher 2 and registry entries in the HKLM section of Witcher 2.
3. reinstall the game WITHOUT INTERNET ACCESS (The installer may try to autopatch)
4. Install the 1.2 patch manually (download from the support section of the site if you haven't already)
5. Play...

PS: You don't have to register the game. In fact, I'm not sure registering actually works properly which is why they released all content in a manual download. (they intended to require registraiton but that buggered up big time). I've NEVER attached my gaming PC to the Internet and I have all my content for witcher 2, DLC, add ons, everything...Also you can get all the extra goodies by using the auto e-mailer for the bonus campaigns that got messed up because the registration/content servers didn't work. . ;-)

Those DLC executables are only compatible with a game patched to version 1.1, so it's not surprising that they didn't work since you seem to still be on 1.0.

I can't speak for patching it online, but offline patching was as easy as double-clicking for me. If you have the GOG version, you can download it by scrolling down under the download links for the game. Other version can get it here: http://en.thewitcher.com/patch/

Then you can get the patch 1.2 (regardless of your version) here: http://www.en.thewitcher.com/patch1-2/

Then you should have everything.

All the DLC are in the 1.2 patch in any event (confirmed) so the DLC executables shouldn't be used anymore at all...

Thanks, I knew I forgot to mention something :)

The only thing not included is the optional Polish language pack (assuming you bought an English version), which you can get here: http://www.en.thewitcher.com/community/entry/55/

Thanks, I'm giving this a try right now. Hope this works...

Thanks. Would've thought the auto-patcher that gets ran on install would bump it up to 1.2.

Also, would it matter if I had imported a save from the first Witcher game? Would the DLC and the bonus items conflict with each other? Doesn't seem like it should affect the Troll quest though, so may be not.

Nope. Doesn't matter.

EDIT: I imported a save and ran through the whole game with all the DLC and imported weapons without any problems, so I'm speaking from experience, of course :)

OK, well... It would seem that I did not have any patches for the game when I first installed (online or offline). When trying to apply the 1.1 patch on theWitcher.com, I got an erorr... So after reading all of the notes, I found that I'm suppose to use the 1.1 patch from here at gog.com. After applying the right 1.1 patch, the game auto patched to 1.2, and now everything's working as expected. Thanks again, 227 and jlibster. Hope this helps someone.
