scampywiak: I hope they patch this soon, I'll go blind through staring so close at my monitor at this rate.
This is why I'm simply not playing and waiting. I've resolved myself that this could take a week or so.

Also, I made separate topic but I'll quote this here too. This is a response I got from CD Projekt this morning from the main website.

"Trust us that we are working as hard as it's possible. Programmers have already fixed more than 10k bugs, we are also working very hard on the forums and the website."

Just to let people know.
Another update for everyone from them

"The game forum should start working soon - it's one of the things we're working on right now. You will be able to join the accounts there. As for the 16:10 support - as soon as we address more pressing issues, we'll take care of it"

I figured they try to fix the game breaking issues first. Guess we are stuck in limbo for now.

Another find by someone here on GOG

madant: I must say, I don't see how Crysis 1 is stuck in 4:3... You can argue that a screen with 4:3 aspect ratio is enlarged to populate your 16:10 aspect ratio, but that does not put black lines on the left and right side. And tweaking for this is done by horizontal and vertical FOV.
Well, then maybe it's because I hit Alt-Enter while playing by mistake. All I know is some friends and I were playing Crysis 1 online, I was holding Right-Alt to crouch and pressed Enter to switch assault weapons, the game switched from windowed to fullscreen, and when I went into the options, no matter what I set it to, it was stuck in 4:3.

I tried it again from the main menu in Crysis Wars and it is filling the screen, so maybe it was the method.

It was that definitely, me and anybody I know, and even in other games never had that issue. Except W1 when in cinematics they squash the screen to a lower vertical resolution (to get the movie like black bars) without proper filtering so you get "steps" on stuff not on 90° angle. Which is just plain stupid. Putting two top-bottom black bars in front of everything else (like in other games) works better and doesn't complicate things.
There is finally a good fix for this, it stretches the screen to fit. For sure it works for 16:10, feel free to try in on other resolutions. It's not perfect but it does get rid of the letter boxing. I believe it doesn't work with windows xp as of yet, HaYDen is working on that.

Download it, sometimes you may have to download it again as it can error when you run it the first time. Put in it a separate folder. To get it to work you need run the program first AS RUN AS ADMIN, then choose the gog version in the program and start with the fix box unchecked. Next load your game AS AN ADMIN via the base exe file found in witcher2/bin/ witcher2 . Let the game load fully. Then tab out, and check the fix in the program. Tab back into your game and it should now be stretched to fit and centered.
Personally I think stretching the screen is even worse than the letterboxing.

Though I don't understand why people have such issues with lack of 16:10 native support. I also have a 16:10 monitor, and I don't even notice the bars when playing. Even if I did, I don't see how its a big enough issue to warrant not playing the game.

Do you people with 16:10 monitors also not watch 16:9 movies or something?

Keep in mind that this is not only about 16:10 monitors but literally every other ratio than 16:9.

True, but the difference between 16:9 and 16:10 isn't significant enough to keep me from playing. Yeah I'll complain, but I wouldn't hold off playing.
What I meant to point out is that for some people (myself included) the bars would cover more than a quarter of the screen.

I know that, but I'm specifically talking about people with 16:10 screens like myself.
Like everyone else, I want 16:10 support as well. I like my 14x9 monitor because it means I don't need a powerful GPU to run my games. I would buy a 16:9 monitor if manufacturers made them smaller than 19x10 as that high of a rez would require me to buy a GPU in the higher-tier or forfeit some eye-candy. Also, I like the real-estate that 16:10 offers over 16:9 immensely.

The black-bars bothers me because that's lost real-estate. I bought a 16:10 monitor to use every pixel that I purchased. Black-bars are okay with me in movies, but gaming is different. Like others in this topic, I base my purchasing decisions on whether games support 16:10 or not. It's no surprise the native 16:9 support is due to CDPR's eventual port of this magnificent game to the PS3/360. I bought TW2 with the belief that CDPR will eventually patch the game and that they're more understanding of their community and what makes a game a game and not just a product to sell. It's why I refuse to buy any games from EA. Ubisoft, Square-Enix as we all know they couldn't care less about PC gamers and only shovel their crap because of the near-royalty free publishing costs.

Anyways, I'm anxiously waiting for CDPR to patch in 16:10 support. Meanwhile I'll go replay TW1.
