Rumour coming out the game isn't going to initially support it. Is this true or just some bogus lie?

It says in the FAQ that 16:9 is native and that 16:10 is not native, so perhaps black bars up and down to compensate, i dont know. Thats the speculation on my local gaming site atleast.

If they don't support 16:10 then I will be canceling my pre-order.

That's right; 16:9 is native, and it will be letterboxed on 16:10 and other screens. It is likely that 16:10 will be supported natively in an early patch. I'm less sure that 5:4 or 4:3 will be supported.

They put a lot of effort into making the game look good at 1920x1080. Some other details, like support for different aspect ratios, probably got shed as a result.

yes because because that is my monitors ratio 1920*1200. And the DRM(patches) is another issue too.

They don't support it so you had better get on cancelling your preorder. Though, that just means doing nothing, and you have the end of the month in which to do nothing.

To be fair, they DO plan on adding it at some point. When exactly, I do not know, but I'm sure it's a priority as it seems pretty important to many people. Luckily for me, I recently ordered a new monitor that supports 16:9.

I think he's a troll; that's the stupidist reason for not wanting to buy a game!! I have a 1920x1200 screen also and use center timings for different resolutions to keep the highest detail BUT to each his own!!

SCALE THE DAMN THING IF WANT TO FILL THE SCREEN!!

Enough of this aspect ratio argument already.. They have mentioned numerous times that they are working on patching it soonest.

Canceling pre-order because of that is just pretty foolish in my honest opinion. It's not they are not fixing it.. Why still complain when they are fixing it? I agree you should cancel your pre-order IF THEY ARE NOT fixing it. But they are fixing it..

What's the problem with people nowadays?

Calm down. There will be an update that will change that. Possibly on May 17th already.

IIRC the devs said in thewitcher.com when asked about this rather odd issue, that they had to decide whether to fix the widescreen or kill some annoying bugs before going gold and they chose the latter.

Not everything goes perfectly in life. Stop whining.
