How severe is this really? Do they letterbox or do we have to play with our monitors stretching the image?

If the latter its going to be unplayable for most...

Just as i thought the whole time. By reading this thread one would stop to ponder if it where something truly gamebreaking.

Good point if on a white monitor.

The edges of mine is black, so i wont notice these black bars at all.

It's not THAT bad. And honestly. Maybe it's time to change to widescreen monitors? :3

But oh well, I'll be enjoying the game via my 25" 1080p monitor so I might be the wrong person to defend CDPR ^^

imho it is a fair complaint. 16:10 monitors have a lage market share and so for a reason. besides a modern pc game should just support any aspect ratio/resolution and most games do.

I game at 2560x1600 and would appreciate to be able to use the full real estate of my expensive U3011, but you`re crazy if you think little black bars will prevent me from playing this.

I can't be bothered to find it but they have already said that this is one of the first things they plan to patch

It may even be in the release day patch(that part is just a guess)

Gidzin: I think he's a troll; that's the stupidist reason for not wanting to buy a game!! I have a 1920x1200 screen also and use center timings for different resolutions to keep the highest detail BUT to each his own!!

SCALE THE DAMN THING IF WANT TO FILL THE SCREEN!!

That is a perfect reason not to get the game. I don't want to lose 10% of the viewing area. I refuse to buy 1 of those cheap crap 1920*1080 monitors.

I'm curious as to how this even came to be?

Professional workstations usually use professional S-IPS panels (either a Dell or HP if on budget, or Eizio if they have the money), and most if not ALL professional panels have a 16:10 aspect ratio nowadays.

Why 16:9 specifically? It's weird.

Cheap crap 1920x1080? I've been gaming on my trusty 1920x1080 and it has never let me down, and the image quality looks much better than those cheap crap 1600x1200 ones.

It depends how you look at it. I upgraded my 1920x1200 24" monitor to a 32" 1920x1080 monitor and I can tell you it looks and feels a lot better :p

Anyway since it bothers you don't buy the game on launch. They have announced a patch to bring native support for 16:10, so wait until then :) Glad you are not angry about the wait.

Edit: Oh and since you won't get the 10% discount for pre-ordering I guess it's a win-win for everyone, you get 16:10 support and CD Projekt get 10% more from you :)
