erikAngry: Now, what did they change to fuck up their pseudo 16:10...
Good lord...

Talking to you people is like trying to explain life and death to a toddler.

You kidding? The game was fine before, now it isn't. I didn't change anything, but there was a patch. It's not a coincidence. What don't you understand?

Guess we don't understand where you got your magical version of the game where 16:10 aspect ratio is supported and it gives no black bars for 16:10 monitors, where as everyone else who has a 16:10 monitor with this game were and still are getting black bars since the game released.

Except other people in this thread. It's obviously not my "version" that's different from other peoples. MUST BE MAGIC HURHURHUR

If the image filled your 16:10 monitor before then it had nothing to do with the game, it was probably running in a 16:9 resolution and stretching. If you want that again all you have to do is select a 16:9 resolution and let your monitor scale the image.

All of you had some kind of driver, software(not Witcher 2), or monitor setting making it full screen without black bars. You know nothing about aspect ratios. When something is made with 16:9 aspect ratio native with zero support for other aspect ratios, then on a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor there will be black bars, unless a driver, software not related to the game, or monitor settings is basically either stretching it or zooming the picture for you. Either that, or somehow you did not notice it before.

Here's what happened. It was on 1680x1050 the whole time. GPU scaling was off the whole time. There weren't black bars before, now there are. The black bars and the patch are the ONLY things that changed. i.e. possible loss of some driver support after patch, but nope, there definitely were black bars before and I'm blind.

I did put it on 1600x900 with GPU scaling and it's clearly stretched and clearly not what was happening before the patch.

The game didn't magically support an aspect ratio that the game wasn't programmed for.
When I was working for Dish Network as a field service technician, I had a customer swear that he was getting HD on his receiver, but his receiver's hard drive went out and I had to replace his receiver. I replaced it with the same exact model, and he didn't like how he was seeing standard definition, because he said he was getting HD on his other receiver before I replaced it. Yes, this guy to believes that his Standard definition receiver magically supported HD, even though it was impossible for that receiver to show an HD picture.
I have a similar problem to erikAngry. I played the game the past couple days at 1680x1050, full screen with no letterboxing. A little while ago I updated my graphics drivers, changed no settings at all, and now the game is letterboxed. I'm going to attempt installing the older drivers to see if that fixes it.

That's because prior to updating your graphics driver, it was set to stretch the image (as the game doesn't support 16:10), and when you installed the new driver, it's no longer set this way.

Wow, i didn't realize this game didn't support 16:10 resolutions. I play it on a laptop with an external monitor (high settings) at 1680*1050 and the game always looked normal fullscreen without black bars.... And it's true i have older drivers with my nvidia 460m card, but the game looks pretty good to me, i doesn't seem stretched.

Nope, my drivers have always been set to center the image and not stretch it. I play a lot of older games with no 16:10 support so I am well aware of what stretching looks like and how to avoid it.

Well 16:10 isn't supported yet according to the dev so if you got a unique version of the game please take a screenshot, in 1680x1050. You can use fraps to take it.
Until they patch in support for 16:10 & 4:3, you can use the FlawlessWidescreen Tool by Hayden.
