The reason may be is that GOG version only supports Windows. My suggestion, stop overpaying for the Apple name and buy a Windows (7, 8, 10) PC.

Unless you can roll back the update to 10.15, your only chance to run the game in your Mac at this very moment is to dual boot Windows (even with an official Apple method like Boot Camp if you'd like).

As noted in the store page:
Mac notice: The game is 32-bit only and will not work on macOS 10.15 and up.
It is likely it will eventually be updated to 64 bit, but you will probably be better off poking GOG/CDPR until they do it.

According to several reports, the game works fine on Wine on Linux too.

WOW, after all this time another PC person has the suggestion to throw away your Mac and get a cheap PC. The answer to everything. So much for community chat and support. Why does community chat even exist? I guess only to give people the excuse to be rude and voice their opinion. It is definitely not for help or support.

I agree, its garbage that mac basically DOWNgrades their software every update instead of allowing MORE. Getting rid of 32 bit is just a lazy money grab for apple and literally helps no one. I bought this just now and ofcourse GOG doesn't want to CLEARLY state that it doesn't run 32 bit games on my BRAND NEW imac, but DOESNT CARE since they are still ABLE to sell you an incompatible game. It is not always READILY APPARENT which games work on which system. Basically both GOG and APPLE can go to hell for downgrading their NEWEST computers and ALLOWING customers to be deceived into what games are "MAC friendly" oh but not 32 bit but MAC friendly, sorry not sorry.
