It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Downloaded it to give it a try (although the old Wrapper ran fine when properly updated imo).
It doesn't start for me at all. Just displays "eOn failed to initialise" and quits :/

Dunno, maybe its my computers fault. Seems to work for others. Nice to see them do a proper port even for an older game though. Just hope it gets an update soon ;)

I get the same error :(
I did some research (i.e. quick Google search) since I'm getting the same error. Here is the way I understood it, anyone feel free to correct me or fill in missing points.

The port is native, but it uses something called an "eON wrapper". The game was originally developed for Windows and porting it to OS X (or Linux) would require rewriting large parts of the codebase. This is where eON comes in, it maps the Windows-specific functions to something that is supported by the new OS. Unlike Wine this translation does not happen at runtime, but rather at compile-time.

However, such mappings can rarely be 1:1 mappings like writing `GL_do_something` instead of `D3D_do_something`. My guess is that eON is using driver features that simply don't exist on older graphics cards, hence why the system requirements got increased. That doesn't mean that the new native port needs more power, it might in fact even need less, but it needs features that don't exist on older cards.

Of course I could be wrong about this, and it might simply be a bug. For reference, I have an early 2009 iMac with an Nvidia 9400M graphics card. It was barely strong enough to run the game on Windows with lower setting at choppy performance.

But seriously, an update log would be a great feature, even on the forum for the time being.
I would gladly appreciate a change log system since i use it daily on Google play store as well as I am a programmer so its just natural to check it.

I guess thats it. Seems Witcher 2 uses it too, might explain why it just crashes (hard) on my computer... guess ill stick to Wineskin...
I actually just posted in the General Discussion board because the requirements are so insane. They are higher than Witcher 2! Maybe I should have looked here first. :)

I just updated the mac version, but I cannot use my save games of the previous version.

Anyone knows where is the new location of the savegames?

Anyway, if there's been an actual notable update you should always end up with a new file with a higher version number.
Thanks! I appreciate the info.

Same :(
today I tried it also on a Macbook air 2014 11'' (I have a Macbook pro retina 2012 15'')
It works! No eon error.
This means that it isn't a problem of dedicated graphics card or integrated.
And not even a question of power.
It is probably a compatibility problem with the controls of the old GPU (as someone said before).
Well, unfortunately, so if you have an old version of mac you will have to stay on the wine version.
But at least if you have a fairly new mac you will not have problems with slowness, crash and graphics problems in the game (and this is for a game in 2007 I think it's just as important).
I hope then that the linux version reserve the same treatment (if the apple will stop in the future to make operating systems that I like, if I have an alternative to windows would not hurt).

Definitely for those who will be forced to remain in the old wine version, will be annoyed by the situation. But surely this update did not take away anything to anyone, and it has earned to all a great version of this great game for the future.

I naturally hope that the support will continue even beyond (and know that to this day is still updated makes me really happy).
However do not lose hope, long ago also wine version worked like crap, to now works much better (in fact the official port was the worst because it was based on an old version).
Maybe sooner or later eon able to implement what is missing (but probably guess we all have already changed the computer especially those who still have a computer of 2009).

But that's the problem: We *did* lose something: the wine version. It is no longer available to download. Now if those of us who cannot run the new port want to play the game we have to download the windows version and make our own wine wrapper (which I, for one, know nothing about) or try to find a premade wrapper online.

I did not inquire but by contacting customer service what do they say? Theoretically they should allow those who need to have the previous version.

However, the port official was horrible (unplayable), crashed every 5 minutes and it would take a lot to load.
You better download playonmac (if you are not expertise), do the installation, change the version of wine with the latest available.
Honestly when I downloaded the official port I wondered if I had done well to buy much sucked.
That's why I said no one has lost anything, because what was there before was useless.

Seems to be. Or maybe they made an update to one of the obscure languages it comes with.

...

Dear GOG,

Make a fucking changelog already. This is ridiculous and unprofessional. Thanks.

Best regards,
