I heard the "Flash" mod is the best option to make Geralt walk in The Witcher? I can't find it on Nexus. I THINK I found it on moddb. Unsure. I believe I can't post links yet... no rep?
The Flash mod alters too many things. If you want just the walk mod you can find it here:

https://tinyurl.com/walk-mod

It's in Polish but just press the button that says 'Pobierz', that's 'Download'.

See, modding is so confusing like this. I've spent countless hours modding properly with mod managers. Everything in the "Override" folder (NOT the one I created) goes into the Override folder I created in /Data? What about the stuff in the "Scripts" folder? So confusing.

I can't get Witcher Overhaul to work because of this. I created the Override folder in the correct location. I copy pasted all files into that folder from the archive. Nothing works. There's no confirmation of an installation when you load up the game or anything, which makes it even worse.

EDIT:Still not working. But I SUPPOSE I installed the walk mod successfully. Sort of, anyway. The two Walk forward options are there in control options. I tested it. Both make me run. I can't believe no one made a toggle with the damn Caps Lock yet. Or even CDPR for that matter. SHEESH

The installation instructions for the Overhaul Project are woefully WRONG! You need to extract ONLY the files and NOT the entire archive. In other words, extract the archive to your desktop, open the folders there and copy ONLY the *.wav files and the *.dds files to your Witcher Override folder. The whole things should NOT be copied. The instructions are STUPID.

Same with the walk mod. Copy the files only!
Yeah, i don't know. That's kind of what I did. I mentioned elsewhere that it's OVERWHELMINGLY simple. Just the files of the mod.

I came across another person who just can't seem to get mods working. Apparently, mods usually won't work until you reach the next chapter? Could it be because i'm literally in the first 30 minutes of the game? Probably less... It's just the introduction still. I'll try playing more and seeing if that works.

I don't know. Maybe it's because the mods are incredibly old and the GOG version of TW1 is "The Witcher Enhanced Edition Director's Cut". A compatibility issue perhaps?

I actually have it installed through the disc. I'm having trouble redeeming my codes for TW1 and 2. It's Enhanced Edition. I have it patched to 1.5. Which is Director's Cut, right?

EDIT: Oh yeah. One thing I wanna point out. I've always been launching using the launcher. But my Witcher.exe is in the System folder. The launcher is in Data. Where your Override folder is supposed to live. Idk.

It IS working halfway. The Walk Mod anyway. Geralt just doesn't walk. He still runs. Except with a different key.

EDIT 2: Ok. The overhaul project is working. I deleted the files from the Override folder and loaded my game. Kaer Morhen's floors are definitely NOT the same. And there's nice bloom lighting effects. But the mod author DID say there's supposed to be a checkbox of things to install. LOL! As if there's an actual installation process. Is he trolling? Seriously.

But the walk mod DOES NOT work still.

EDIT 3: SOLVED!

Walk Mod WORKS! I guess it really is insanely idiotic instructions that are to blame. The wgdsf-whatever-it's called file that's "included" in the mod... Is already amongst the game files. Simply put the TWO mod files in the Override folder and add the line that the mod author put in that file I mentioned... I overwrote/replaced the original and that didn't work. And it's funny how he says to add that specific line to HIS file. You open up HIS file and it ALREADY HAS THAT LINE written.

So the trick is: Just do it yourself to the existing file of the same name that's amongst the 3 files that are part of the mod instead of moving over the one from the mod archive into the game directory. And add just the two mod files. So, so silly. All this trouble. Because of ridiculous miscommunication of something so simple.

GG, mod author.

Hey I'm having the same problem with the walk mod. I'm not sure what the difference you do to make it work though.

So I've put the two files, actions.2da and walk-mod.lua, from the mod into Data/Override folder.

Then I paste; g_Lua:PlayFile "walk_mod" at the end of the wgsdefs.lua file which is inside the Data/Scripts folder.

When I start game I have another walk forward control to which I assign ctrl. When I press ctrl in-game I move forward but with regular running. Am I missing a step here?
WOW... I referred back to this thread because I just started playing the first game again, got a new monitor. AHAHA. Lucky I came by again, I suppose.

So it's a little confusing. The wgsdefs.lua that is in the archive for the mod - the one provided - already has that line written. All you have to do is overwrite the existing wgsdefs.lua in the Data - Scripts folder. You only have to add that line if you don't want to overwrite and continue using the existing wgsdefs.lua. I hope that makes sense. So just delete the wgsdefs in your current Data - Scripts folder. Then use the one the mod author provides and put it in there. You go to "Controls" in the game options and now there's another "Forward" option above the already bound one which should be 'W'. Bind that other option to whatever you want your walk key to be.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZING!
The link does not seem to be working anymore unfortunately, does anybody have the mod still?
yeah this mod doesn't work
