I noticed this to be a common problem for this game. I've scoured threads and tried everything. I'm ready to return the game altogether. Assistance would be much appreciated.

A BEX error is generally caused by third party tools like antivirus, other tools or even browser toolbars. It can also be caused by malware. First you need to scan your computer for malware with a DECENT antivirus/malware solution. When that's done you should uninstall and then reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (the faulting module is MSVCR80.dll. Lastly, when your system is clean and prepped, disable any toolbars, overlays and antivirus and try the game again.
I did the malware/anti virus check and disabled by extentions. I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable for x86 and S1. I launched the game but received the same error. Also Internet Explorer doesn't work, at all. It freezes and closes out automatically.

I launched the game in safe mode and this is the error message I receive:

Then you have a system problem. This is not a game specific problem, even though it's affecting your game. Internet Explorer is deeply tied to the Windows 7 system and you need to sort out why a Windows app is crashing before you can turn to troubleshooting your games.

Edit: By the way, an Exception Code: c0000005 is a general protection fault that the operating system reports as "Access Violation", meaning memory no-mans land was referenced by the program. This *could* be due to running a game in safe mode, but doesn't have to mean that.

I searched the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable again, and discovered that MSVCR80.dll version 8.0.50727.6195, is an extra. I cannot find a MVC that will install and place the file automatically.

I manually downloaded the file form here:
www.dll-files.com/msvcr80.dll.html

Unzipped the file and tried placing it in the file directory of the game, as well as the C: drive of my computer, following the instructions from here:
appuals.com/msvcr80-dll-missing-on-windows/
I placed the 64 bit file into the SysWow64 (based upon a different link).

As for the game, I placed the 32-bit version in the system folder as well as the main folder.

...The game is giving the same error message....
What am I doing wrong?

As for Internet Explorer, I've never bothered using it as a web browser since the day I got my computer. I always used chrome. So I'm not sure why internet explorer doesn't work other than the fact that it is explorer. I've tried reseting explorer through control panel/ advanced tab/ reset button/ and clicking okay. -> Nothing. I tried it again in safe mode, still nothing. The below link is the description I followed.

No, it is not. It is part of the package:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2538242/ms11-025-description-of-the-security-update-for-visual-c-2005-sp1-redi

Bad idea. Very bad idea.
I tried installing both types of microsoft visual c++ 2005 sp1 redistributable package, x64 and x86. They installed but MSVCR80.dll is still not appearing.

It will not be found in the normal place. You can find it in the Windows Side by Side (WinSxS) folder, which is Microsoft's assembly cache and is used for, among other things, libraries installed by numerous applications. The folder is at ..\Windows\Winsxs\
Okay thanks. I'll try reinstalling the game and see if it will recognize the files. :)
It did not work.
I installed the visual c++ 2005 sp1 redistributable package, x64 and x86
Uninstalled and reinstalled the game. The game has the same error message.

I have same problem on Windows 10 1803.

P.S. My problem solved by creating new user without cyrillic symbols.

Did you go through gog.com to launch the game or did you go through the folder itself and launched the game? Now I'm only getting "Warning? Minimum requirements not met" on safe mode.
I uninstalled windows explorer and reinstalled it and received this error. What does it mean????
