I *did* do a search, I *did* find 'the solution', and this is what I posted in that thread, which I'm worried will get buried:

I put a shortcut on my desktop of the witcher.exe file.
...My target looks like this now:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\The Witcher Enhanced Edition Directors Cut\System\witcher.exe" -dontForceMinReqs

Is there anything wrong with that that you can see?
When I click, i don't get a window, but I don't get anything happening.
The cursor thinks for a few seconds, my keyboard in the taskbar disappears, and reappears, and then, nothing.

any suggestions?
I"m not all that computer savvy, but I did find the .exe file and do the short cut thing and all, i should be able to follow instructions.

First, just to be absolutely sure, you do have a space between the closing quote mark and the -dontForceMinReqs, yes? If there's no space it won't work right.

It could be that you simply have a different problem IN ADDITION to the minimum requirements problem. Specifically you might want to force the game to run in a window instead of fullscreen. Instructions for that are in the Fixes To Common Problems sticky thread.

Also, can we get your system's hardware specs? And what OS are you running?

Also you're running this as Administrator ?
Also, look for an ERRORS.TXT file; if there is one, post its contents.

What I'm concerned about, is there is a possibility that the game failing its minimum requirements check is not a fluke: that there really is something about your system that makes the game not runnable. Older Intel GPUs are usually the problem; some of the newer ones will run the game.

Other possibilities are out-of-date graphics drivers or DirectX. One thing you should always try is installing the current (June 2010) DirectX 9; get it direct from Microsoft, at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3
I updated directx when i had the error which needed it.
I don't have that error anymore.

Hope that gives you all you need...?
It may be my video card, but the computer doesn't even struggle at opening the program up, so i thought it might be something else. If that's what it is, well gosh dangit.
I also checked the drivers last night, the computer says they're up to date.
And also, yes, thre's a space. Just checked.

The "G33/G31 Express" is your problem. I wasn't able to get TW1 running on a G31 either. Same thing: if you supply the -dontForceMinReqs switch, the program merely dies.

Using the latest drivers direct from Intel may help. Some others have gotten setups like that to work by running 3DAnalyze. But it's an uphill battle, and the best you'll get is low or minimum settings.

Even a cheap graphics card like an HD 5570 would be a huge improvement.
Thank you.

I will work on that!
you can also mess around with 3d analyze. not promising anything, but i played through the game using intel 965 & 3d analyze.

EDIT: ninja'd by 7 hours. dude's right, too; you'd be better off with a proper card. 3d analyze is a hassle.
