when at start screen I want to launch it say that d3dx9_35.dll is missing,,

seems odd as both download and instal went fine,, try and run it as ad,, but same thing,,

kinda doubt that reinstalling it will fix it,, but maybe

anyone know something about this`?

Try installing the June 2010 DirectX

tommy5761 is correct, that will fix it.

The Witcher requires DirectX 9, which installs alongside DX10 or DX11. So if you already have DX10 or 11, don't worry, installing DX9 will not affect the newer versions.

thank you,,, it worked out well,,, very odd that it was such a simple thing,,, would have though it came with the game as it normely does,,, but w/e now I can play the game and it looks awesome

The Witcher requires DirectX 9, which installs alongside DX10 or DX11. So if you already have DX10 or 11, don't worry, installing DX9 will not affect the newer versions.
I've installed DirectX 9 and have reinstalled Witcher multiple times...yet I still get the "d3dx is missing" error. Could you humor me and tell me the sequence in which things should be done in order to get the game to run? Thanks.

- uninstall The Witcher
- run the latest web install version of Directx 9, available here
- when DX 9 install in completed, reboot the PC
- install The Witcher.
- run the game
- if you still get an error message, note the exact file name that is causing the error.
