i'm a first time player, easy level and unsure what to do. he has the shield and i don't. suggestions please?

Swallow, Tawny Owl + oil or whetston for your steelsword. Quen. Run straightaway in direction of the professor - ignoring any other foe - and kill him. :) This one is on hard difficulty:

I know. This happens if Geralt declares the wrong man guilty. But your difficulty level is "easy", so you will succeed eventually.

If you upload your savegame and give me the link here, I will try what I can do for you.
