Will the GOG version of the Witcher work with a 360 controller? Just wondering, as I'm on a laptop and some keys are missing.

yes if you use xpadder or another controller mapper program.
You can use JoyToKey, it worked fine for me when i played Soul Reaver 2 and it didn't support gamepad. Grab it here:

PGP is great and i can recommend it for lot of GOG games [you can get PGP profiles on pgp forum].
i played Witcher with x360 controller for a while and it worked ok.

Dear Friends

Everything is OK, but how it is solved for pointing enemies and clicking on them to attack?
By mouse you may point enemy and click left mouse button to attack, but how you do that on gamepad?

Best regards.

Sincerely
I would put the cursor at the middle of the screen and then used camera rotation to "point it" (i.e. the cursor would be a kind of a crosshair) - it's a theory, no idea how it would work in practice.

Dear Friends

I have tried to install trial version of Pinnacle Game Profiler.
I have Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710 on Windows 7 x64.
When starting Pinnacle Game Profiler and it's trying to detect game controller, nothing happens. I have tried DirectInput and XInput, no success.

I have tried my second PC with Windows XP and Logitech Rumblepad 2, the same thing, when detecting game controller it's nothing happens.

PGP don't launch at all for me.

I have my game controllers on when launching PGP.

Any ideas, what is going one?
Best regards.

Sincerely

I've never used PGP before. And I can't get the Xbox 360 profile to work. Was it made for a previous version of PGP? The preview picture seems to be working fine.

[edit]

I think I just needed to restart my PC. All is working now.

I've played it with a Wacom Tablet and it's amazing how well it plays... Isometric camera is recommended though ;)
So aside from the xbox 360 controller, does the game have natural settings for any other gamepads at all? I find it quite absurd that a 3rd person action rpg would be played with a mouse and keyboard. I'd definitely want to play both Witcher games with a controller no doubt.

I can borrow a 360 controller from a friend but I'm planning on buying a good controller for my PC for any games that support the option anyway.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Second game definitely has controller support (in fact, it's arguably responsible for some interface problems), but the first game is designed in such a way that the mouse is pretty critical. You could get around it as others have mentioned above, but I doubt it will ever work very well.

I tend to prefer the mouse whenever I have control of the camera, because I like precise control of what I'm looking at, so I played both with mouse and keyboard. But that's just my personal preference.

Alright cool. If The Witcher was designed for mouse and keyboard then it must not be so bad then. I'll give it a shot once I get my new computer up and running. I look forward to this series of games.

Thanks!
