i bought the game around 3am and its now 8:36 and i havent been able to fully download it. ive tried removing the files from the hard drive countless times and a few other trick but nothing has worked

How are you downloading it, through your browser or using the downloader ?

Removing the files you already have on your PC won't speed up the download process, on the contrary, if you delete what you already have you'll have to start over, so...

im not trying to speed it up every time i try to download the game it opens windows media center

Try using a a different browser for the download, or,

download and install gog downloader and then click on the game cover on your shelf and set the "GOG.com downloader mode" to ON (check the attached pic for the location of where you do this). After that it's just a matter of adding the game to the downloader's queue by clicking where it says "Game Installer" (also on the attached pic)

ive done that i reset the pc after 10+ hours fighting with it and trying again

Which method have you used for downloading the game, browser or downloader ?

When the "GOG.download mode" is set to OFF in your shelf and you click on a download link for one of the setup files what happens ?

Which browser are you using ? Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer,... ?

it was chrome and browser the first time then downloader

Try this using Internet Explorer instead of Chrome

1- Go to your shelf, click on The Witcher cover and set the "GOG download mode" to OFF.

2- Click on the link that says "Game installer part 1 of 6". When the dialog box comes up choose the option "Save" and save that file to a folder in your PC.

3- Repeat step 2 for the other 5 parts of the game installer. You need all 6 parts of the installer ( 1 .exe file and 5 .bin files) saved in the same folder on your PC in order to be able to install the game

The download for the game is big, around 8,5 GB's, so it will take you a while to download all the required files, but how much time it will take depends of how fast your connection is.

it always said the files where damaged but ive rebooted my pc and am trying with the downloader

Ok, let's hope it works this time around.

If he downloader stalls or something don't delete what you have already downloaded, there's a therad about the downloader on the general forum where you can look up solutions for known problems or ask for help with downloader issues.
