Hi,

I defeated the reverend and went straight to Mikul.. without meeting up with Shani.
just realised after a couple of hours of gameplay/.
Will this break the game?

Thanks.

Shani is an essential part of act 2, so no, it won't break gameplay but... how could you!?
To be honest, even if you had walked with Shani to the gate, it wouldn't have changed anything. She doesn't even react to Geralt getting arrested. You only missed a couple of cinematic dialogues (IIRC, complaining about how everybody in the Outskirts of Vizima is a bastard lying criminal).
i rarely look at journals while playing rpgs.. my memory serves me well :)
this was one of the episodes of absent mindedness.. i knew that i had go to fetch shani..but somehow failed to recall..

btw i didnt see shani at her home .. her grandmother kept on pestering me... hope thats normal

That's normal. She's a bloody pain in the ass.
yes .. shani's back in vizima.. saw her leaving for the mental hospital early morning..
btw.. i have another problem...

the game crashes to the desktop.. its completely random.. but since i run marathon sessions on weekends... its become somewhat persistent... every third session [4 hour sessions at the minimum] or so the game ctd's

the error msg is the generic.. "instruction [.] at referenced memory [.] could not be read."

did the 4gb patch help anyone?

That error is most often associated with background tasks interfering with whatever you're running, The Witcher in this case. Shut down anything that's absolutely not necessary and completely disable any antivirus of other security software you have running while playing.

GOG updates older games to work on modern systems. I'm not sure it requires the 4GB patch.
