Easily offended? Its easy to be offended when your presented with something actually offensive.

Prudishness? Prudishness is excessive avoidance of sex or sexual topics, not the right amount of engagement and avoidance. The rub, of course, is what amount, and in what way, is right? What's fair play, what's in the ballpark of right?

I think using women as mere sexual trophies is pretty much right out of the ballpark when it comes to offensive and wrong.

Well, as long as you don't have to get intimate with any women in the game, i don't see the problem. Wasn't that like one of the much praised aspects of the witcher, that the morals aren't always clear and mostly up to you?

It's K18 game, so everything goes. I don't find sex, sexual topics, profamity etc. offensive at all (actually I find violence especially in case of exessive brutality far more offensive but can live with it as long it fits events unfolding in game), on the contrary more games should have stuff designed adults in mind. Pretty much anything goes as long as player can avoid anything they don't like without significant penalty.

What could possibly be wrong for example with woman in dark medieval fantasy game willing to spead her legs for player in excange of loaf of bread if she's starving? You could also just give the food to her if you so wished. That would only be realism in my opinion. Political correctness and censorship has no place in games.

I don't think it is the option to have sex cutscene with women rather easily isn't what bothers people but the fact you get a card for doing so. That is a bit silly. that part. I think if there was just sex it would bother people less.

I suspect they didn't make it that you could keep the cards to make a collecting game out of it. (could be wrong ofc) Rather because they are actually extremely well drawn and you only got some time to look at it. An opportunity for their artists to showcase with their skills.

What bothered me is Triss. I remembered her as a rather nice lady in the books, and here we're having this slutty-looking scheming something. I really wanted to get rid of her every moment she was near. I hope she gets cuter in the second part.

Well said. Contrast it with Mafia 2, where you collect pictures from Playboy Magazines. In Mafia II, you're literally just collecting pictures; in The Witcher, you're collecting human beings.

(Complete side note: the sex scenes themselves are so laughable! If I ever said the kind of things Geralt says before having sex, I'd lose all respect for myself and for the woman who subsequently had sex with me.)

Maybe it's because I've only done the prologue, but he's not super inept or anything. He just asks direct questions about the tasks at hand, and then he's like, "we've got some time to relax before heading out if you'd like" and that's code for screwing. If "talk to women" means some kind of escalating flirtation and some kind of drawn out courting or something, then there wasn't any of that, but it's not like he doesn't talk to them at all, either out of awkwardness or out of total condescent. He's just all business and then he's like, "oh cool, intermission. You wanna...?"

Honestly, incidental screwing for the lulz is sort of an improvement over the few dating sims I've looked at. Basically they passive-aggressively quiz you on whether you remember their favorite color, their birthday, and the name of their cat, and you buy them gifts that are of the appropriate level of expense for your relationship level... just like real life... right.

At least the hookup with Triss at the beginning *sometimes* resembles casual intercourse one might have in real life. I don't know what turns it takes later, but she's fairly plausible as a person except for the fantasy-ultra-skimpy get-up, which is of course obligatory.

Unless the prologue is totally different from the rest. I don't know, Chapter 1 starts off with him having a fairly nice conversation with another fertility-aged old friend of his. Just sharing information and all that.

Well, I played the demo and played the game but still in the prologue (taking my sweet time, don't want to rush it) but I experienced some parts of chapter one with the demo and the one sex encounter was a bit silly but inept may have been the wrong word. I'm guessing Triss is a bit different than many of the other women you can have sex with in the game because she is a major character it seems from what I played so far.

Some people is weird they love gore and to chop heads off and rip intestines, but they see a breast or a kiss ingame and: oh noes think of the children! also is not like the game shows the sex act , is more an erotic thing. The cards for me are fun because i like to collect stuff.

If you go to Skyrim forums everyone makes topics for to kill the children and to get more gore , but if you make a topic about romance the community will eat you alive lol

Sex and romance are not the same thing. Nobody is complaining about the romance aspect of The Witcher - it has some well-developed female characters with strong traits that, admittedly, don't get much action in combat, but that's in keeping with the fiction. Rather, the objection is to the many, many other wholly undeveloped female characters who exist solely as sexual conquests for Geralt and, by extension, the player. While you could say that they're optional components that help improve the game's role-playing aspects, I honestly do not feel that simultaneously portraying the majority of women in the game as, basically, sluts, the constant innuendos spouted by idle NPCs ("my father's sword is bigger than yours!"), and even making jokes about battery etc., puts the game in a very positive light.

Well, advance a bit further, beyond the Witcher stronghold, which only holds the last of the few Witcher and Triss and you will see that most of the people are pretty rugged. I admit, the protagonists and NPCs stand out a bit, but isn't that always so? As for later stated him having the flirting capacity of a rock.. Geralt is a Witcher, and if I remember correctly, he has no feelings whatsoever. Which also kinda impacts how he talks, and what he says.

I was the one who criticized Geralt's sex talk. I was actually referring to how sappy he was!

If I were Triss, I would totally puke on him. Sappy sex talk + Just drank a potion made out of animal claws and alcohol = puke everywhere.

I realize I'm being a bit harsh. Not to criticize the game. I'm completely loving it. If I were reviewing it, I'd give it a 10/10 so far. Not even criticizing the characters. I'm still at the beginning, but I'm already feeling attached to them.
