Today I tried to burn The Witcher Enhanced on 3 DVD's, because it doesn't fit on 2 with all the Extras...So I decided to put "setup_the_witcher_enhanced_edition.exe", "setup_the_witcher_enhanced_edition-1.bin" and "setup_the_witcher_enhanced_edition-2.bin" on DVD1... I burned the DVD, and then I decided to test it before I burn the second and the third DVD. I runned the .exe, he did a check on the files, and he gave me an error about all the files I put on DVD, and the error recommended to redownload again.

My question is, I need to copy all the files on the DVD's to the same folder on my HDD and after that I can install, or is there another way I can install the game from the DVD ?

Yes, you will need all six files (the .exe and the five .bin files) in the same folder at once.

You could put them on a 16GB flash drive, if you do not want to copy them to your hard disk.
So there is no way to put them on different DVD's :( ... I thought that it will just start installing and when he couldn't find the files he would give an error and ask for the file, then i will put the next dvd, choose the file and the installation will continue ...
Guess no backup for me .... thanks for the reply "cjrgreen".
Well you could put the files onto 2 DVDs for backup purposes and then just copy the files to your HDD manually when you want to reinstall in the future. I know it's not quite the same, but it's just a little bit of inconvenience that you'll have to go through on the rare occasions when you want to reinstall after having deleted all the files. Not to mention, you can redownload from GOG at any time - that's your backup right there.

my internet is pretty fast and i don't need to make that kind of backup, it will take me longer to copy all the files from the dvd, i think :) ... but i think i found a way to install it from the dvd's, i skipped the check on files and the installation started asking for the location for the 5.bin, now i'm burning all the dvd's and see if it works
i will be back with a reply after the test :)

LE: It worked :) ... so here it is what I did ...
Download the game, then start the exe and let it do the checking so you can be sure that your files are working. After that burn the files on DVD's( I used 3, I also added the Extras on DVD'3). After you burned the DVD's it's time for the install. Insert DVD'1, the one with the .exe, and start the installation. When he does the check, just skip, you really don't need to do a check again, the first one was enough. The Installation starts and soon it will ask for a file(It's .5.bin), to check wich file, just press OK and it will tell wich file it couldn't find. Now just insert the right dvd when he needs another file, and the installation will complete with no errors.

You seemed to solve your problem, but I can still ask this anyway. Why do you want them in DVDs? Isn't external HDD drive a better choice. You'll everything in one place. No need to look for the damn disc 2 that has been lost in the void :P

The solution to that would be to use a single DVD-+DL and a CD for the extras.
I didn't want to start a topic about something similar so i'm kinda glad Johnny started this one and I'm just dropping in to ask my own question:

I think the downloader didn't combine my files too well. I got 5 Bin files (4 of them about 2 gigs each, the last is 600 megs), but i also have a lot of "chunk files" on my Witcher download folder. Are those necessary once they've been combined? Shouldn't they have auto deleted themselves or something? I figure chunck files are pieces that make up the real bin files and then they're just redundant, right?
Unfortunately it's too big to fit on a DL disc as well.

The chunk files are no longer necessary after the bin files have been reconstructed. Sometimes the downloader leaves them lying around. Once you are sure the bin files are good, you can discard chunk files.

Even so, you need three DVDs to archive The Witcher. It won't fit on two, and it won't fit on a DL disc.
Maybe there is a way to disable a integrity check? Or maybe it will be better to make another installer exe-file without it for those, who wants to burn it to dvds?

I didnt take formatting into consideration I guess. That sucks. I figured since 700MB cd's really are 700MB, DVD's would be the full 4.7GB also. You would think i would have noticed it's not by now, but it's been a while since I loaded up a dvd to full capacity.
Windows and other software use 1024MB = 1GB (gibibytes), drive and disc manufacturers use 1000MB = 1GB (gigabytes), hence the discrepanices.

Curse that Gigibyte for ruining my plans of a single DVD-DL!

Hey, thanks. I was wondering about this. I like to put my GOGs on disks as well. I don't want to waste space on my hard drive, and its much faster for me to reinstall off a disk than to redownload a game. More reliable as well.
