Hi,

Since last W10 upgrade (1607), when I exit the game, the screen stay black and i can do nothing. Only have to reboot...

any ideas?

Thanks
Me too. After Win10 anniversary update this issue has been bothering. AMD 390x series graphics card running on my system. Has anyone resolved this?
I found this Steam thread:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/20900/discussions/0/360671352685564542/

Apparrently many players face this issue and one work around is to hit ALT+TAB. Its not a perfect but a lot better way compared to force boot your pc.

Hi,

I have the same issue, also with Windows 10 version 1607.

By searching the net for ideas I found it the best way to disable full screen before exiting the game.
Then the game closes as it should without a black screen.

Hope it helps.

I set it to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Somewhere else I read that unplugging and plugging back again monitor cable would fix it, and indeed it does. As soon as you plug the cable back, you are back to the desktop, fully functional, and it works not just for this game, but for others where this seems to be happening as well, like it happened to me in Grim Dawn too.

Looks like for some reason it half-detects as if there were two monitors, and loads the second monitor screen, but it doesn’t really load any second monitor because there isn’t any! (in my case, at least)

This game is 8 years old. Many developers stopped putting effort into much younger games (I'm looking at you, Ubisoft Montreal).

I'm having the same crash-on-exit-issue, only working around by using Alt + Tab doesn't work. I have to unplug the monitor cable and plug it in again, which is a PITA.
Somewhere I found a workaround for these older games that exit to black screen due to errors in full-screen non-windowed mode: hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, down, Enter. That goes to switch user, which brings the monitor back, then you can just log right back in. Still a PITA, but way better than unplugging your monitor or resetting your machine.
It's not a game-related and isolated issue. It's because Windows 10's multi monitor support is utter garbage. When exiting fullscreen mode it sometimes won't recognise the monitor, especially if you have several monitors hooked, no matter if activated or not. It helps to change the source and back again (when using a TV) or disconnect and reconnect the (HDMI) cables.

The problem is known for many months since the Anniversary update and nothing's change. Windows 10 is still a beta and now you realise why they gave it away for free.

I have this issue with all different kind of games from The Witcher, Overwatch, Diablo, Mass Effect Andromeda and very old games. Doesn't matter since it's Windows related.
