1. The making of movies are not included. If they are please let me know where?
2. The game crashes to desktop at launch, and has not done it once through Steam.
1. They're not but the other extras are nice.
2. I don't have that problem.

1. True i guess.
2. Shit happens, its really not unique to the gog version. (i even had only one crash in my whole run up to now using gog's version. had multiple with steam without even going beyond chapter one)

Besides, steam version crashed regularly for me, gog version in all the time i've used it (way longer than steam version) only once.
Also, steam always resetted my language choices at each start-up. :(
Once the game is updated, aren't all the versions same irrespective of where they have been bought? The enhanced Version patched has to be applied AFAIK but their servers are acting up.
1) DIdn't know there was one. Guess that's a pity, but not really necessary to play the game, no?

2) I haven't had the game crash me at all whatsoever so far. So I'm not entirely sure what the reason of crashing for you is. Perhaps it's some file corruption during download?
Mine also crashes to desktop at launch. Looking for a solution...

Best to do one of 3 below (or all of 3 :p):
1. google around.
2. Make a new topic in this forum, mark it as a question/problem thread.
3. Directly contact the very friendly gog support people. :)
Also, getting the Making of videos isn't hard, if you take a look around... The Witcher website links to for their patches (link points to a bunch of fan made adventures, the game's patches(not needed for the gog release), and the EE bonus packs), and softpedia also has the EE bonuses on their servers (which includes the videos the guide and the map I think) But it comes in I think 9 languages, so there's a different download for each. And as mentioned in another thread the bonus pack is also hosted on [url=http://www.fileplanet.com/191952/190000/fileinfo/The-Witcher-Enhanced-Edition-Making-of-DVD-and-Extras]Fileplanet

Granted it would be simpler if gog hosted them so there was no need to look, but that's another 10GB (9 versions of the videos, 1 for each language available) or so of server hard drive space being taken up by one game, and another GB of bandwidth per player they'd have to pay for.

Course, they could take a master of the DVD and do a proper single version release of the videos including all 8 subtitles

Sometime, Steam isn't not responding / responsive and lots of other minor glitch. I don't know why people like Steam so much, i can't find reason to like it or maybe i just don't like it.

I have been using Steam since it released in 2004 and have used all the major online purchasing service since it released. Back in 04 Steam was the new kid on the block and it showed. It was pretty bad. I remember waiting for 8 hours for Half-Life 2 to download the 80 k file to unlock on release night.

Since then Steam has become the only way I buy PC games if I can absolutely help it. Highlights include but are not limited to:

Having all my games in once place.

Auto patching.

Not having to launch yet another program to take and host screenshots and videos.

Automatic driver download for ATI cards.

Xmas Steam sale.

Not pulling BS stunts like faking shutdown like GOG.

Being run by the best dev in gaming that truely has shown they care more about making games and being good to the community than $$$. In CD Projekt's defense they do the same.

There is plenty more, but the only reason I bought Witcher 2 on GOG was because of the extras being offered. If they hadn't offered the most through GOG I would have purchased the game on Steam without 2nd thought

It's true that steam has come a long way and it's true that valve provides lots of value.
And i see some specific features you mention that gog indeed does not provide (screenies, recording), but tbh, i doubt many people are looking for those.
The others are either also present on gog (sales) or not relevant (auto-updating). While both are online platforms, they still have very different business models and USP's and hence have different appeal to different audiences.

And yes, it's no good if your game crashes on you, but i have it actually in reverse of what you have.

"Lowlights" include, but not limited to:

1. Steam is an absolute rip-off in a lot of countries.

2. You're reliant on a third-party. If they go broke or there's problems, there go all your games.

And please, don't post the Internet myth that Steam will unlock the games.

3. When you first install the game, you're forced to patch it, and if the patch breaks the game, like Metro 2033 and Plants vs Zombies, bad luck for you until it's fixed.

4. Steam regularly suspends downloads, regardless of which server you choose.

5. Steam games are almost impossible to sell.

6.Privacy. I don't want how many hours I play, or which game I've played to help Steam make money.

If you want to use my information, ask and pay me.

7. Introducing another layer of software, regardless of how well it's coded, substantially increases the chance of problems.

8. I don't benefit from Steam, I'm capable of finding and storing my own patches.

9. You need Internet access. Yes,, there's Offline Mode, but that's useless if you don't have the game installed.

10. It's harder to work or mod Steam games, as the first thing Steam does is check the game's executable, and if it's been altered, it will replace it.

11. Regardless of what other "services" it provides, Steam is DRM, and not a very effective one.
I find the exclusive to gog artbook is far more desirable extra than making of videos.
