I'm sorry if this question is silly but I'm having a really hard time getting into this game because of Sadwicks terrible voice. I'm just now considering turning of voice altogheter but thought I'd ask if anyone has heard of a fan Project to rerecord the voice, or if it's possible to have a better voice (in another Language) while still having English subs.

Anything that will help?
I almost gave up on this game because of the voice. The best advice I can give is just power through the first part of the game. After a while, the voice began to grow on me and I felt it really fit the character.
I must say, ive never had a problem with sadwick's voice. Sure he sounds depressed in an almost annoying way, but thats who sadwick is. The acting is good, its the tone and lisp that bothers people.

I Guess you're right. The acting is perfectly acceptable, but it sounds like a grown man with a rather deep voice doing a silly child-voice. It's baffling to me how nobody choked this voice before it was done.

Agreed. It's probably a weird directorial decision and oversight. And a painfully enormous one of that.
I actually put the game aside for later because of this. It just destroyed my nerves.

To have another voice option would have been good. Sadwick sounds just like his name -- sad and annoying. His constant wallowing in self-pity downright broke the game for me. Not that it really matters: I barely made it through the first three quarters of an hour of gameplay and then I got so angry at this game I had to erase it from my harddrive altogether. It's a sad excuse for an adventure game, mostly because Sadwick doesn't even want to go on an adventure. It would have been better for us if he stayed in bed.
I agree it does sound like an old man trying to sound young; kind of creepy.

Oh, am I the only one on this whole planet who likes Sadwick and his voice? You don't think that the lisp and the constantly depressed tone add to his personality and relatability rather than substract from said virtues? Oh well... I will just go be weird alone then.. *Turns to Sadwick*..At least I have you my dear depressed friend.
(but seriously I find him one of the funniest and most well written characters out their (I guess I am just weird that way))

You're not alone. I thought that Sadwick's voice was fitting with the character's personality.
Would I be wrong in assuming that the characters were originally voiced in German? I, like many of you, have tried this game a few times and have not been able to get into it at all. It has nothing to do with the story, maybe it starts slow, but really it's Sadwick's voice. As many have expressed, I also thought it sounds like a grown man trying terribly to sound like boy.

It's not about the acting, just the tone and super annoying lisp. I can't do it. It's worse than nails on a chalk-board. If it was originally done in German, I really would love to listen to that version while just reading English subs. The OP asked about that, but no answer. Is there a way?

I would hate to have to turn all vocals off, but I will if that's what it takes. The Deponia series was my favorite P&C series, and that says a lot since I've been playing these type of games for a quarter of a century. Poki is a very good games writer, if not the best. On top of that, the music is brilliant and haunting, and the animation and backgrounds remind me of a Miyazaki film they're so beautiful. I'd really hate to have that experience ruined by bad dubbing.
